I bought a set of rods from Audspeed, and they look similar to the SPM ones, except that the rod bolts read "ARP 2000" rather than just "ARP" like these do. The top of the bolt head looks a little cleaner too (less rough of a surface).

Is the ARP 8740 and the ARP 2000 much different? Are the ARP2000 so much better or is it a Marketing game?? in the ARP site it Says that they share similar characteristics but the 8740 can take from 180000-210000 PSI while the ARP 2000 from 215000-220000! Is something like this very important?

The Differences i have found through the different Rods are:

Scat: Vertical cut on the outside of the Big End (034 Scat Rods), On the scat web page they look the same as Eagles with the side holes in the Small bearing.

SPM: Bore at the top of the Small End, Deeper Ring in the Small end "bearing"

Eagle: Holes on the sides of the small end like scat.

I'm sure the ARP 8740 bolts will be fine ... billman do your bolts have ''ARP'' stamped
                  in them?
