  • Snub mount pictures and fitting

Test fitted the snub mount today, simple enough job to do and fitted pretty darn good too. Takes about 2 hours to do in total. The intercooler is only removed in the pictures because I was fitting a RS2 crossmember and intercooler at the same time, you should not need to remove the IC when fitting.

    Here's a a few pictures, comparisons:

    The dimensions are (approx)

Standard part: height 43mm, diameter 64mm
    Modified part : height 43mm, diameter 70mm

The new snub mount fills up a fair bit more of the bracket:

Cross member back on, this picture is taken from under the car looking up to show the gap around the bigger snub mount:

Cost of the snub mount (I believe) is a huge £12 including delivery! Is it any better than the original one? Let you know after a week of driving

Looks good Martyn. When are they likely to be available?

Martyn, Is it possible to fit the snub mount without removing the cross member?

                  Thanks

Steve, we need to run with these for a couple of weeks just to make sure that they are ok and an improvement over the standard one. So assuming that everything is ok then these should be available first week of feb

Since I removed my air con and aux rad I could probably change mine without removing anything else. I have so much access that I could remove the snub mount bracket and front snubmount casting from the engine with everything else in place. The only thing that might get in the way is the intercooler to intake pipe hose but I can remove that directly too. Removing air con and aux rad has even more advantages. LOL! I guess I might be able to set a record time for replacing the stock bush for a poly one...a simple mod for me!

If you have air con then I am afraid that you will have to access the snub mount bush by removing the crossmember. The air con compressor is mounted to the engine snub mount casting so it would be a nightmare. Can't see any other way but I might be corrected on this.

Martyn - does it sit tight onto the bracket, so it doesn't knock/bump?

Are we likely to see them in the next 2 weeks?

                        Cheers

martyn, have you adjusted the top bracket so that it is up close to the snub mount?
