Alex - might be worth starting it up as a proper group buy if thats what its going to end up as, probably get more interest then

Didn't want to start a GB until i had an idea of prices really, thats the first question that gets asked lol.
At this rate i might speak to Volcano RS about the guy he uses for his nylon bushes and see if we can get a run of 10 set or something..... no way tis going to be cost effective to look at poly at this rate

count me in
would been on top the list if wasnt busy all yesterday only noticed this now
id be for poly but make no real difference car aint a commuter
what is the plan with the mk2 joint? use stock bush holder and adjuster and length of rod thread either end?
though may bend if that the proposed idea as a piece rod that length very little resistance to bending as it cant 'spring', note why audi made it curved to increase resistance to curbsComment

the inner rod ends are actually a really good design as stock - would last loads longer than a heim joint and with a proper bush in them and an appropriate threaded bar and a cheap and easily replaceable outer rod end would be the perfect solution for the rear tie rods for road and track IMHO.Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt

the problem is i think most people would prefer to keep the taper on the hub, incase they ever go back to standard..the 034 tapered insert jobbies for rose joints cost a fair bit, as do the rose joints themselves compared to normal ball joints. i do agree that the rose joint solution is the best choice for some tho, if this falls through for any reason thats what i'll probablly end up doing.

for almost everyone thess bushes would be an upgrade for the stock set-up, and easily DIY fitted.
Rose joints are all well and good but they're not cheap and don't last long unless they are properly sealed - and for most poeple those are the two prerequisites to fitting parts to their car

I've got some dims for these bushes now so will put together a semi-technical drawing tomorrow and see what these manufacturers say.

Should be an easy one as long as theres enogh interest to make it worthwhile / cost effective

Right, i've knocked together a basic roughly scale drawing of the rod and and possible bush design on MS Publisher
comments / ideas / abuse welcome
hopefully this is enough for these mfrs to let me know a pallpark cost and possible order numbers etc
I'm going abroad for 2 week tomorrow so will hopefully pick this up on my return and move things forward.
cheers
Alex
EDIT: Can anyone confirm if this bush would potenmtially work for the Type85 or URQ?Attached FilesLast edited by Error404; 24 March 2009, 13:03.Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt
