Gauging interest - quick rack GB

I am looking into the possibility of a quick rack for the B3 and B4 cars - would be a quicker rack and pinion likely to be 2.2 or possibly 2.0 turns lock to lock. I'm talking to Quaife who already make similar products for a number of cars - I am sending them a rack and pinion out of a CQ20v to look at.

At this stage just want an idea of potential interest if the price was right - if you are interested please post your name below

EDIT: Forgot to say, not sure if the RHD and LHD rack and pinions are the same or not - if any LHD boys has a dead rack about and can take the R & P out to compare that would be really helpful

Definitely interested... one thing though I am placing a D2 S8 motor into my Coupe. Will I still be able to use the same rack as the 5cyl Coupes

yup. 2.6 on the ABY & RS2, upgrade from 3.0 on the 3B (I think) as well as all other coupes, cabrio, 80, 90 etc

I'd be interested to see this one come off - not a short term need for me though.

I'd also agree that anything much less than 2.2 - 2.3 lock to lock could be a bit too much. Doubtless quaife can comment on that in terms of what the normal spec is for cars of similar size and weight - and whether the application is 'fast road' or full on race/rally spec. If this could be done as part of refurb operations on an old exchange rack that might be a neater way to make it attractive too.

the ideal for me would be that they made parts so you can change it yourself (if possible)

2 turns would be ideal i thing, no reason to pay for 0.3 less Paul

034 already does a 2.0 kit and I believe it was intended for use on the track where such a short rack would be most useful. I am interested in this for my track project.

yep, but the 034 is rather expensive i would say, in sweden i can make an one-off steering rack for those money
