    Uprated 3B clutches

Im looking into doing a group purchase on some uprated 3B clutches. These will be coming from America and I need to get an idea of numbers required. I know that i will be buying one at least.

This will be a friction plate only for now, but you will need a modified clutch cover. This can be done locally to me for a small cost. Old units will be required for the mod.

I have no idea on costs at the moment. Will post more info here, as and when i get it.

There may be the option of ABY clutches too, but thats gonna be a bit later on

Thats the same company Vadim. Im hoping that if i buy more than one unit then we can get the costs down, import duties etc etc.

They recommend doing the cover plate mod, as ppl like Helix do this to for their uprated clutches, it does make a big difference. It doesnt cost too much either.

There are loads of different type of clutch too. Ranging from organic, right upto copper race clutches!!! Not sure which would be best suited to the cars, in terms of driveability and also flywheel wear.

I'd say for daily road use we'd be better off with one of their Carbon clutches. Has anyone tried this type of sintered, paddle clutch in town traffic? The comment 'The quick engagement/disengagement requires full driver attention' suggests it's going to be On and OFF.

Tom, what needs modifying on the cluch cover? Is it worth getting the flywheel skimmed?

                      Cheers,

the straps that 'squeaze' the friction plate onto the flywheel need to be beefed up, this normally means shortening them and placing 4 in there instead of either 1 or 2.

Ah right. What would be a good estimate for the clutch with the work done all ready to fit?

Hard to say at this moment in time, not sure what costs the friction plates will be yet. Cover plate would cost about 25-50 quid to be modded, providing its not worn out. New release bearing is about 15 quid

Ok, no worries. Just trying to get a rough cost. My so called car fund ran out along time ago and there's the side exit exhaust on its way along with the 3" downpipe. Its all good fun
