We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
I think we get 3 vacuum valves with the manifold after reading through the thread again. Jon can you confirm?
Have you got an ABY manifold to compare with.
I'd say leave the engraving until the manifolds have been finished if the price is still good i may go for it and then have it locally polished
ABY manifold:
2 Vacuum Nipples at back of manifold, One for FPR and the other for ECU referance.
1 Vacuum Nipple at front of manifold for DV.
ISV connection on manifold is 19mm.
Carbon Cannister connection on under side of manifold near throttle body is 9mm.
Wagner Manifold:
2 Vacuum Nipples at back of manifold
1 Vacuum nipple at front of manifold
Manifold is already machined for Air temp sensor.
OK, please if someone is going to install the manifold without any other changes on the Car, please measure in the same day-condition the Intake air temperature before and after. Of course with the same IC.
I think it is going to be very interesting because i dont think the difference in Intake Air temperature will be very big. The Pipe inner surface area VS the Air mass is so small so i dont think it will make a temperature difference if short or long air path. Only maybe off boost in the City.
This really is not hard work... i am glad mine came unfinished as it allowed me to personalise it as required. I also carried out no ali welding on mine at all.
My throttle cable mount is bolted on to the manifold. i firstly bent a piece of metal to follow the profile of the manifold 20mm by 50mm then mig welded another piece at right angle to bolt the original bracket too. I then drilled and tapped the manifold and bolted it on after applying JB weld to the back of the bracket and threads, i also cut the bolts so as not to protrude.
The fuel rail is straight forward, just drill and tap, done! the AAN fuel rail will not fit, unless you cut the front of turn through 180 and weld back on, as i had too!!! to ensure the banjo misses the manifold.
Wheel is a small piece of alli spun in a drill to make the grove. Drilled and tapped for stud, fitted threaded stud with JB weld, fitted wheel with nylock nut on top. done..
Vacume take off fit as many as you need... i have 5 on the rear and 1 on the front.. 3 on the rear should be fine.
My isv port was made in the same way as the throttle cable bracket, 50mm by 50mm plate bent to profile of manifold 19mm hole drilled and swaged pipe welded to it. the manifold was then tapped and drilled, JB weld and bolted on.
My dip stick was bolted to the water manifold studs after welding in some support arms hence is not associated with the inlet manifold.
I then pressure tested the manifold to 5 bar no leaks..
I would not recommend engraving, i dont think it is thick enough..
The AUDI emblem on mine came about by playing. i put about four layers of masking tape on the manifold and then cut out the logo with a stanly knife. i then mixed up JB weld and spread it over the logo area, once cured i sanded the JB weld down to the level of the masking tape, then removed the tape which left the raised logo.
I then etched it all a sprayed it in 2 pack silver and picked out the logo in black by hand.
I am a bench joiner by trade which makes me fussy... Metal is no different to wood just takes longer to cut.....

Thanks for the advice Djones, you got that DBR cam pulley fitted yet ? :mischeif:
