Mihnea, would it be worth buying for a 3B with just exhaust and chip? If so, what kind of difference are we talking about? Also, could you post a link or something to a picture?

        Cheers!

            Thanks for the info mate!

Sounds like that's way outta my league, not to mention I would get divorced for buying another item I don't need for a car I can't drive...

I need more info on this - What exactly is involved in converting?

That power steering pump bracket looks different to mine for a start.

Can we get a BTDT report on it from someone?

                Wagner Warning!

Been following this thread with interest. Basically I purchased via ebay, the "last" Wagner manifold. How do I know it was the last, Herr Wagner himself e mailed me!
Still not really too concerned about that, although it does raise issues about being truthful. More worryingly was the state of the manifold itself. It looks as though somone has finished it with a chainsaw. Fortunately they have been so heavy handed that they have removed the four rings from the top. That's not a concern either really.
The biggest problem is that it doesn't fit. Maybe I got a duff one, but the inlet manifold flange contacts the water rail which will necessitate the end user modifying a manifold that was presumably designed to fit that particular engine. Following on from that are other issues which should have been addressed if the manifold was specifically designed to work with the 20v. For example, there is no provision for bolting the dip stick on. Neither is there provision for the IAC. Or any provision for the throttle cable. Indeed there is no provision for the various vac/boost take offs(although some fittings were thoughtfully enclosed). Evidently it is down to the end user to incorporate these.
The point I trying to make is whether it is acceptable or desirable to purchase something that needs a considerable amount of end user modification. Compare this manifold to the MTM version and see the detail differences. I appreciate that there is a difference in the respective prices. However that does not excuse its shortcomings. After all, the price difference is its biggest attraction.
So if a group buy is being organised, I think certain reassurances would need to be forthcoming from Herr Wagner about the quality control. Perhaps it would be possible to modify the casting to minimise the problems. After all it is surely not unreasonable to expect something marketed as a replacement manifold to fit without too much trouble.
Actually I'm thinking of marketing my own manifold - a large lump of cast alloy which you can whittle into any Audi manifold you want. Any takers?

                    Mihnea,

I wasn't talking about the finish on the inside, although having brought it up, you are correct that it is rough and with some flash that will need removing(along with some swarf from the "machining"). I missed one other thing out yesterday, the fuel rail bosses will need to be drilled and tapped.
Ok, maybe I did get the last one of the batch. But all I trying to do is raise awareness of some issues which most certaintly can be addresed if another batch is being made. You may think that I'm being overly fussy, but it is surely in everyones best interest if the manifold installation is as easy as it can be.
Whilst I appreciate there is a difference in the design of the water rails between the AAN and ABY, the position of the flanges where they connect to the cylinder head do not appear to vary, and this is where the interference is. The scallops for the clearance have not been machined for adequate clearance. If you use a gasket as a guide, you are talking about 5mm.
So if you are intent on persuing this for the benefit of others then it would be a good idea to make as a condition of the order that some modifications are incorporated. If the order is going to be for S2 owners then there should be no problem in locating the various items I've mentioned in positions that will make the installation a "no brainer".
I'm not complaining about the concept of the manifold (although I'm surprised MTM hasn't), or indeed it price. It is the execution of the design. Which is a shame because with a few minor adjustments and a closer control on quality it would represent a useful improvement to the 20v community.

I emailed wagner about his intake manifold and he told me that the distributor cap does not come in the way just a few wires and cables need extending and u need to get rid of the crossmember inorder to fit the manifold.
It will cost 700euros which comes to about £490 and includes delivery over europe but to buy it at this cost I need to get hold of 4 more of u guyz.

                        Anyone?

                              Wagner group buy

Hi guys, for the past couple of weeks i have been in contact with Mr Carsten Wagner
trying to organise a group buy on his reverse inlet manifolds.
I have asked for a price on 3 manifolds shipped to the uk and have been quoted £940, shipped.
If anyone else is interested please PM me as i may be able to get the price down even lower.

                              Many thanks Jon.

                              Here are some pics

The manifolds come with machined injector seats, air temp sensor flange and vacuum nipples also.
ISV connection will have to be fabricated.
There are many members on the forum who have fitted these manifolds with great results.
