Picture run-through of refurbing my Cup 1 reps. No-way was I paying the quoted £67 per wheel when I can do them myself. I'm a certified "tight ****"

I started off by using a P120 grit wet "n" dry and a nice sharp file to key the surface, remove scratches and sort the rim edges out of kurbing marks.
Next up was to start and reduce the wet "n" dry grit rating down to P1200 through P600 and P800.
I used a scotch pad to finally smooth off and key the surface up.
Wipe off all the dust with a microfibre cloth then wipe the wheels down with some thinners.
Made sure the room temp was at no lower than 15°c and gave all four wheels three coats of silver leaving around 20 mins between coats. I used a silver paint which has a slight anthracite effect in certain light conditions.
The wheels were then rubbed down again with scotch cloths to remove any furring and wiped down again with a very small amount of thinners on a cloth.
Next was to coat all four wheels with a double hard acrylic lacquer.
In between each stages I again rubbed them down slightly with a scotch cloth.
All this above was done with spray cans, alllowing me to do the whole refurb for around £12 all in.
Now thats better than paying £268.
Tyres will be fitted next week and are brand fire new Pirelli P-zero Rosso assimetrico's in 225 x 45 x 17 . Flush fit valves will also be going on.
Patience and preparation are the keys to doing this yourself.
Pics next week when they are on the car..
