      My sympathies

My sympathies, for a such a PITA I unfortunately know how you must have felt on discovering what’s wrong and then it sinks in that it has to come out, come apart and then go back it.

Hope in stays in place for ages and behaves itself, good luck with the mapping and enjoy driving it it.

      Kind regards.

Thanks Dave, i will let you know how the mapping goes. Must admit its pretty quick on the standard ecu, saw off a "55" plate V8 S4 no prob with only 1 bar of boost.

Yes its not common. basically wrong bearing, it was the two piece shell which has the thrust washer built into it as opposed to the six part kit i.e 4 half moon thrusts with the two half shells.

The two part shell would of been ok but with the new heavy clutch it wore it out in no time. The contact face on the six part kit is twice as wide as the 2 part shell, worth noting if your doing an engine build...

Yes bang on wish i had seen that thread. Mine did not spin just wore out in 200 miles due to the new heavy clutch cover plate wanting to push the crank forward.

The separate thrust bearing are much wider on the contact face spreading the load more.

Stay well clear of the combined when using a none standard clutch.

S4 cant be running right. didnt even go above the speed limit to show it whos boss. im only running 1 bar of boost on standard injectors with a GT30 and standard ecu say 250 bhp max.. should be 450 when mapped with orange injectors and water injection switched on.

I guess this indicates that the twin intercoolers work ok....

Are you running a GT30R aka the GT3076 or the smaller GT30?

Not sure if im honest! its the gt30/k26 from Turbo Dynamics on RS2 ex manifold. They say good for 450ish... im more intrested in getting the torque correct than the bhp which is i guess what Mr S4 witnessed hence no need for top speed.. she kicks like a mule....

Ah it will be the smaller hybrid one then. The 3076 can make 500-525 bhp

Yeah I had the same problem on mine when I bought the car, not sure what happened between putting a deposit down and picking the car up but I had to replace the entire short block because the block and crank were beyond repair

I very nearly had to replace mine, i was within a thou... of it not being recoverable. South Cererny done a fine job though.
