    Yeah, that’s it.
it turned up in Drumchapel, Glasgow several weeks ago.

I don’t know the whole story (ongoing investigation) but it would seem as if the DVLA probably did send a document of some sort to the suspect, who then used that to claim the car was his. Giving me 14 days to prove a vehicle is mine isn’t really long enough when I work away from home a lot, thanks DVLA.

Anyway, the cops have reported everything to the fiscal, and there’s a lot of evidence pointing to that one individual, so we’ll see if the case goes to court or not.

Back in August (after 8 months of waiting) when it looked like the cops had run out of leads, I finally settled with the insurance company, mostly because I was buying a house at the time (the money came in handy to be fair) and now the car is at auction, who knows what will happen.

There are a few more scratches on the body than there were before, internal wiring hanging out and damage to a door. God knows what else the guy did to it.

That's not really how it works any more. Too many people were apparently abusing the system by pretending to have their car 'stolen', then claiming on the insurance, then the vehicle would magically appear and they'd get the car back too.

So I've just lost a car because some selfish ******* thought he'd have it instead, and now it's on the open market at auction.

Ah okay, didn't know it was insured. Here almost nobody insures cars against theft, that are over 15 years old. Most insurance companies doesn't even offer that option for older cars.

That 14 days rule also seems like a bad joke.

Ach, not sure I'd want the daily reminder personally.

Glad you got a settlement and I hope it was decent enough.

That’s the estimated retail value, not the sale price

It was up to £6,800 just before the final live auction started. Quite hefty fees to go on top of the final price and obviously collection/delivery.
Didn't see the final price as i went out before the live bidding and it doesn't show final price on the website.
