  • Subframe renewal ruined my holiday.

Just spent 2 whole weeks of my summer hols workiing on my S2.

Said at the beginning, should take 2 maybe 3 days max. Well i was wrong. 25 year old nuts and bolts have punished me greatly.

In the end I went all the way and replaced the just about everything, Bilstein Shocks, standard springs, struts, wishbones, subframes, superflex mounts, ball joints, track rod ends and adjusters, tie rods, diff mounts, discs, pads, callipers, whiteline rear anti roll bar and a new diff.

Just been out in it tonight. Feels like a new car, should of done it sooner, just dont get the time to work on her, 2 young kids, full time jobs etc.........

Anyway, any one thats putting a similar job off then dont, trust me do it now, its transformed the car.

Is it that noticeable? Less prone to understeer?

Rikki Kitto Agree totally with you on that. I adjusted it to the middle medium setting last night and went out again for a spirited run. Its given me massive confidence in being able to carry more speed into the bends. You can really feel what the back end is doing now, i gave it hell in 3rd gear coming out of a long left hand bend and had all four wheels spinning.

I did front rear earlier in the year. Along with Mk4 golf top mounts a6 rear brakes and a chip set. With doing so much at once it's hard to say which mod made the most difference.. I do know that the braking and handling is spot on. I can easily outbrake/corner better than most modern cars.. I don't drive like an idiot I just have so much more confidence to carry the speed through bends now..
