Those engine codes have cut and paste weird but basically:

Audi A4 B5 quattro 1.8t conversion, Engine code: AJL 180bhp does seem to be the favorite, as you suggest Dave.

AMB must be an 058 block, NOT an 06A block.

Cabrio ADR engine mounts fit the 058 block

Both AJL and AEB have preferred 20mm piston/ rod wrist pins (rather than 19mm), cast crank, large port head, external water pump and IM shaft driven oil pump.

there is a chance finding a forged crank in an early ones

Went to pull all the door cards off to get new foam the vinyl reattached and found something very interesting.

Driving round like this with all four doors cards off is very noisy!

One of these clips is missing from the driver's front door. It stops the door pull outer cable from popping out. Anyone know where to get them?
