Some joker from a salvage company has just phoned me to say that they're coming to collect the car... I'm sooooo angry it hurts. As far as I'm concerned it's not going anywhere...

Someone is going to get an ear bashing if this continues.

I still dont understand how a small crease in that rear panel can warrant anything over a few hundred quid, let alone £2K Am i missing something??

Just spoken to the insurance company rather than anyone else. They have halted the progress of the claim and I have instructed them to contact me and me only for anything relating to the repairs etc.

The other company involved were Helphire and they have been anything but helpul so far. When I speak to the chap I've been dealing with I might just explain myh displeasure at their services.

Still slightly shaking with anger now!

Helphire were absolutely fantastic when I used them. I was given a courtesy car the turned up when I took my car in, I had it all the time my car was repaired and left it at the garage where my car was picked up.

                      @ Andy

Make sure you take your stereo out when the salvage man comes. You could sell it on ebay and make a few quid...

                      Sorry. It made me laugh!

I hope you get it all sorted out. You really should have that repair paid for, even if it is over £2k, which I doubt...

                      Cheers,

                      Steve.

Then again - do panel beaters still exist in this country full of phuckwits leaving school with umpteen useless A grades and a degree? Bet they just go on the principle of replacing anything thats bent as opposed to straightening / repairing it with some good old traditional practical skills.

                        Rant.
im a 23 year old panel beater from shetland i am not trying to be a know-it-all but i would say i do my job very well. i do agree there is a lot of "so called" professionals (i work with one) up here and on the mainland that could'nt do there job to save themselfs! i go on the principle of fix what im told and if it cant be fixed(broken in bits) get a new part.

regarding the cost of repair... in my opinion is £1600 too much!

i've been waiting 4 month to get the rs2 fixed! just heard today that it will be given the go-ahead in the next week or so. cost of repair... £1400! £850 of that is the rear bumper alone!

                        cheers adam

£2k seems a little steep though.

Bumper and fixings were nearly £1000 new. I don't care how much it costs just that it's done right and with the correct parts and that the phooking car isn't written off in the process! Hopefully the insurance company are sorting things out now as the agreed value with them means that this repair will be ok... I'll update when I have the next installment...

Whatever happens, DO NOT let ANYONE take the car!!!!!
Soon as they have it they will want to scrap it, and it will be BIG hassle trying to get it back, plus you could end up with storage costs too.

Don't worry, it's not going anywhere! They'll have to fight me for it!

Book value was supposed ot be £2500. As I pointed out to the guy on the phone, if I put it up for sale at that price I'd lose both arms and both legs in the rush of people trying to get if!
