Nice to see your back on the road andy, not been having much luck with the car lately. Take it you managed to use the spare on the pos?

I expected it was more likely to be the coil pack - but apparently not! POS.

Yeah, im hoping that everything that can go wrong has, and has subsequently been replaced! Famous last words?!...

It was the 2nd channel that went, so no such luck. Had to buy another one. £115 for a piece of damn plastic that fits in my hand

Lets just hope the turbo goes, then i'll end up with a k24 7200, judging by what's happened when previous things have broken

Now let me see, what was the very first response to your post regarding your engine's symptoms?

Oh, yeah, me, saying "Most likely you just lost a POS channel."

                  Damn I'm good.

Great to hear the problem is solved but I have to say (mostly for others) that between the diagnostic hints that Paul and I gave, there is no need to take a car to even trusted shop to diagnose POS or coil issues. Just needs a bit of patience and a tiny amount of skill.

                  POS info for future reference

I keep telling Andy to get more hands-on with the car too, I mean troubleshooting the problems is half the fun with these cars, right? Or have just been too long without a running car...

Good job I missed the post office this morning with those coil packs then isn't it, shame - I was looking forward to having some leverage against your RS2 injectors :mischeif:

The guy it was taken to has done everything on my car since ive had it, it was just a co-incidence that, being 20 miles from home, i was 30 seconds from his place! Hence it ended up there instead of taking the risk of driving it home.

That said, regardless i'd have taken it to him. Ive not got the tools, environment and knowledge to start messing about with electronics on the S2. Whilst id love to get more hands on with the car, i also like it working! Ive been caught out whilst trying to do work before, and I cant think of anything much worse than having the top of the engine, coilpacks and POS kit in pieces on my "driveway" (more of a lumpy gravel surface in a forest) as the heavens open - which they've been doing a lot recently!

As with previous times ive "got involved", you can guarantee i'd not have understood your and Paul's instructions correctly, messed things up, not have had the correct tools, got frustrated, dropped a couple of screws into the engine bay, got soaking wet and put my foot or fist through something... resulting in a more costly and damn frustrating experience than if id have just dropped it at my trusty mates place

Youve been to long without a car, although i was impressed with your engine bay opened right up, engine hanging on a crane, you with one foot on the intake manifold yanking at the injectors

But what would it have cost without help from this place ?

                            A lot more.

The point I was making, is not all of us are cut out for tinkering under the bonnet. I know I would not attempt to build a website or understand code, whereas I am sure Andy finds that childs play.

                            Its horses for courses.
