  • I've defected (sort of)

Just taken the keys to an E30 318is as a daily. It's in great condition inside and out, a mate owned it prior to me and has lavished it with every toy going. Just had to drive him home in the wet... those old BMs deserve the nickname "hedge finder" !!!

Anyway, have parked it up safe and sound and am looking forward to getting to know it over the next few months. Having a bigger daily means that project Alpinweiss II is back on the cards, I've got the 300bhp, just need to shed 150-200kg from her now :mischeif:

Makes me reminescent of on old 320i I thrashed for years on the track

18is is a better engine but can't compare with the sound of an I6.

Best choice in the E30 family ( apart from the obvious M3 ) is a 325iX IMHO

If I'm not mistaken the the E30 1.8is is quite a rare car in this country, a good friend had one till it "found a hedge".

One of my friends also has a E30 318is it is wild in the wet. He was disappointed that only the American versions were specced with a LSD too.........

I used to own a CQ20v when I worked in London... I sold it onto a workmate when I headed off to the states. He had that car for 2yrs and got along great with it. Then he got promoted to a level where he could get a company car - twas a big thing back in them days - he got a 318 beemer of some sort. He binned that thing on the 1st wet roundabout he took it onto... If it hadn't been brand new it would of been written off.
