^^^ I've always been told to leave it plugged in to avoid fault code errors that can cause running issues. It maybe a myth passed on through the generations but as mine's a daily I don't fancy finding out at 2Bar

Hi - could you expand on this comment on fault codes errors?

When my car was being mapped at MRC recently I asked them to put in a couple of wires from the N75 so I could connect to a switch on the dash, giving me a very basic switchable setup.

This worked well up until the morning of a recent trackday, when the car suddenly (for the first time ever) cut boost on WOT at 1.2 bar and afterwards would mostly give me mechanical boost (0.4 bar) apart from sporadic full boost moments, so I disconnected N75 to be on the safe side.

I suspected a boost leak, but the next day I reconnected N75 (but without the switch) and it ran absolutely fine again and has done ever since!

Any ideas whether the boost cut and the installation of the switch are related? If so, what is the ECU doing? Does it go into limp mode after multiple similar error codes or something? I'd imagine that everytime i hit the switch it would have registered an N75 fault. I haven't yet been able to check for fault codes but plan to do so this weekend.

Yeah, I spoke to Doug briefly after it happened and he (quite rightly) said I needed a pressure test and checking for fault codes. However, I didn't remind him that they'd fitted the N75 switch (I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember the details of EVERY car they work on!), and so it was only when I saw RWD19T's comment I wondered whether the N75 switch may be the root cause.

Obviously I'll get the pressure test and VAG-COM check done in due course, but would be interested to know whether anyone has more information on how the ECU behaves when subjected to multiple N75 disconnection events.

Since everyone else is adding their experiences of Mr Jones, I thought that I better add mine. Nothing as bad a Davids, which I actually feel sick about for him. I cannot imagine how your are feeling mate.

I managed to get a set of brand new Cayenne Calipers off bay US for a brilliant price and got in touch with Quattronics to make up the adapters and the disc's etc. Spoke loads with Corey via email and asked if I needed to send the callipers down to him, he said that he did not need them as he had the measurements there already and he even gave me a discount since this was one of the first S2 kits that he had made or known to be made. Price agreed I paid with card over the phone and agreed a 2 week timescale. Two weeks past and I contacted them, spoke to his miss us and she said that they were waiting on the callipers adapters to come back from the machine shop and that it should not be much longer. Weeks past and I was getting fed up so I phoned them up and asked just to get my money back. in fairness to them I got my money back within 48 hours and a phone call to apologize for the delay.

After reading this thread it appears that I got away with the prize quite literally and why I got the 'special' treatment I don't know. Also why he can get away with everyones money and belongings is just sickening.

There is a much more elegant way to do switchable than that...

By making N75 look open circuit to the ECU it immediately raises a fault code and depending on the driving conditions & driver inputs can affect performance as it will typically use some safety / limp-mode settings while such faults are active. You will likely not notice when tootling around, but I don't think it will like WOT - as the TPS is shouting for max boost and the ECU is saying 'no way beech there is no N75 connected'. The automotive equivalent of 'computer says no' I suppose

But if you know what pins to tickle you can make the computer say yes !

Not previously a member of this forum as I own a B3 20V Coupe Quattro, but I felt compelled to pass on some good news after reading this thread.

I was talking about this Quattronics firm with a bloke at work the other day (I live locally) who told me he had his 80 serviced there a while back. He tells me that the locals report that there was a dawn raid at the workshop in Grassthorpe involving a helicopter. For those of you that were seeking some sort of closure, i think it's safe to say the law caught up with him in the end. If there was a successful prosecution or not is unclear. Rumour has it that they were upto no good with VIN plates if you get my drift, and the raid was the nail in the coffin for Quattronics.

It won't get you your money back, but it might make some of you feel a little better.
