Strange. My Vagcom logs usually report max rpm in the 7200 range when doing pulls to 200kmh. I let off the gas when the accelerometer flashes at 200kmh. The Garmin GPS that I have used also indicates that I have reached 200kmh, and that is a 1hz unit (higher Hz units will report higher max speed as it is more likely to capture the very peak speed).
Will do some more testing with both 10hz and 5hz GPS when the car is back on the road (need to fix the rear bumper shell after being hit by a moron (at walking speeds) last fall)1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

I'll look at some of my G-Tech ( similar to Performance box but accelerometer based not GPS ) and see how it compares.
We should start a thread for acceleration times, a bit like the FATS database, I know I'm with Espen in thinking that the in gear times are more important than BHP figures.sigpic

What reasons are there to chose for one or the other turbo? Also, I am pretty much done with this ECU - I have accomplished everything I wanted to.
So whether it is a RS4 maf you want to use, MAF-less tune or whatever else, I can do that at this point.
Fitting anything bigger than a 3071R will require removal of the airbox though, as it just will not fit.
I would personally put a GT3076R or GTX3071R on your car, use a compression dropping head gasket and add methanol injection. Then you can start getting closer to Espen's times on here
Or you could do absolutely nothing at all, and just keep the car looking as OEM as it is, which is better for it's value anyway.
Would a ported K26 wagner be good enough, or is T3 really needed?
In the end I'm well happy with how it is now, but that bit more is always tempting as many will know
Anyway, if I pull the head again once, I'll certainly do CR dropping with some head porting to do the lot.
Main thing is that it stays reliable, and I believe this setup really is that.
Will be doing a 5000km roadtrip in September towards Corsica so hope it stays that way
Not that I know of.Comment

I'd say keep it as is. More power also means faster engine wear no matter how well built. Its just the stresses of the engine that matters.
If you were absolutely sure if using another turbo, my bet would be the GTX over the GT and perhaps with a bit of cutting here and there you could still get away with it being fitted with the original box. I think someone had done it in the past here on the forum.Comment

GT3071R already requires mutilation, I am not sure at all GTX3071R will fit at all.
I personally also think - keep it as is.
Nice and reliable setup and it seems quite quick regardless.Comment

Car was mapped over again by Prj after some small modifications. Plan is to keep
it this way as it should be good enough as is, with perfect midrange power.
Changes were:
- CR dropped to 8.4
- 3" Downpipe making it 3" all the way with no cats
- extra adjustable wastegatespring to adjust previous maxing out of N75
- TFSI coils and EIX8 plugs
So nothing major was going to happen with still the same K26/27 turbo, but
it was interesting to see what Dmitri could do with his extra knowledge and capabilities now vs 2 years ago. It really is insane what he gets out of these old ECU's, for example the cilinder individual knock detection is great.
Anyway it turned out to be a worthwile remap with some adjustments made that
changed the character of the engine.
- boost is very slightly higher on peak (around 1.85) and it was still on or slight over 1.7bar at 6-6.5k.
- gained some turbolag reduction of a few 100rpm over previous setup
- The fueling was leaned out a bit as it was too rich. So bringing it back
instantly made it feel stronger up top.
- Slight timing change at high rpm, but mostly the partial load area had timing pulled big time making it a lot smoother and supple in normal driving. Also fuel economy
dropped a lot, a tank that i normally would never had gotten home with is now still not
in reserve.
Prj once again really took his time for mapping it as nicely as possible, with no knock,
and I got more result than what I'd hoped for. The extra grunt from say 5 to 7k is there, but also the general driving feel of the engine makes it much nicer
Oh and LC at 1.2bar is sounding insane
Power wise it's all guessing, but around 440-450 seemed us plausible. It would need
a dyno ofcourse but the buttdyno definately felt a gain
In the end big thanks again to Dmitri for the great job!

Well this has been a story and a half. What a read, and what a fantastic adventure from start until now, problems come and problems go. I agree with one of the guys in an earlier post that your camera skills are brilliant. We travel around Europe quite a lot in our motor, but planning to take our little cabby out to France for a jaunt soon, nothing as fast paced as yours, but will take in the scenery and sights a little easier.
