  • Audi 80 Avant Quattro 1.9 TDI project.

Hello, maybe you guys rememmber my project Audi Coupe b4 TDI Quattro.
    Here's the link:
    http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63567

Had an accident. Didnt wanted to continue the project after it.

    So here's my new storyline:

    Bought Audi Avant 80 2.6 V6 Quattro.
This car had really awfull story. The last owner removed rear differential, installed audi C4 FWD gearbox and made it FWD. (idiot) He did it for the name of few liter economy wich comes with 1 axle drive.

    Anyway the specifications:
    Specifikācijas:
    Audi 80 Avant Quattro
    1994. yr.
    Color: Dark Blue
    Full Climate
    ABS,
    Front Electric Windows,
    Heated, electric mirrors,
    Dark interior,

    Future plans:
Get it running. After that will start doing some exterior upgrades.
    First, RS2 bumper in front,
    RS2 bumper in back,
    Elipsoids,
    RS2 foglights/blinkers.
    RS2 reflector.
    Black Hella/Seima backlights.
Some interiour upgrades in future aswell. Like RS2/S2 carbon interiour, S-Line Steering wheel, some good looking leather/half leather seats. Tinted Rear windows etc. But all that - in far far future.

For starters: This car was in really bad condition, everything was made with crooked fingers.

Here's a picture of my ex car (to the right), and my new car(to the right)

Basiclly i'm gonna swap my Ex. 1.9 TDI engine with about 200 HP, my ex. 5gear petrol/diesel hybrid gearbox etc. to Avant.

So after a while, the V6 was out and sold right after:

Took my Ex. Coupes TDI wires out, nice and smoothly.

Did some paintjobs to the front Semiframe, since it was off.
Bought B3 Hella dark backlights. Gonna find b4 black ones but those are kind'a rare.

Bought Rear Differential from 2.8 Sedan Q Audi 80 and Cardan.

    Repainted my G60:

    Restored theese aswell.

This is how they look: And yes, by the way - all of my project i'm doing without any garage. I'm tuning it outside

Did some Welding jobs for TDI engine mounts:

Measured, to get the right position of the mounts:

And here it goes - Gearbox is in, engine mounts done:

    Restored theese things aswell:

Bought everything for the rear differential.

Installed rear diff in theese conditions with a help of friend:

Changed Oil in Differential aswell and here it goes: Rear diff installed:

Did some wiring aswell. Great job. Everything went well.
Besides the regular Tdi wiring, did some extra. Installed VDO (voltmeter, oil pressure and t°), and I did had an autocheck before in this car, installed it aswell.

    Repainted everything here:

Had to make my flywheel straight:

    And here goes the engine:

    And first start aswell:

          You have done amazing job

Btw those b3 rearlights look better than b4 ones, because b3 long taillight panel is nicer than seperate lights and middle part on hatch.

Also add some pics of interior.

          Keep up the good work

Sorry, even though they are big, they auto-resize it on my browser. Dunno, If it's the browser or forum itself. Using Chrome.
Anyway - about the swap: Yes its possible. And quite easy aswell. I will be doing it in the future. Want to raise a bit those HP's. Not that hard to do it, since its the same R4 engine, with the same engine mounts.

I have the same bumper replica (seems to be originally from Latvia as well). How did you implement the mounts? Any photos?

                      mounts

Actually I used my old bumper mounts. Not the best technique but i dont know any other ways anyway. The idea is that i used original bumper mounts, and drilled a hole in to the fiberglass for 1 screw in each side. Then drilled some holes for wing mounts and thats it. Well, i guess its not the best way, but atleast they fit good. Dont rly know how the OEM bumper fits but my technique works anyway. Tommorrow gonna buy wheel bearings, gonan change them, and also gonna change Brake caliper hoses.

                        Back of the car:

                        Polished taillights. Looks better.

Also got rid of my old car forever: Guy bought it for Rally. This is going to be his Spare Coupe in case he crushes his first one. Gonna install 1.8 T in it...
