Don't want to burst your bubble, but I can't sell my 16v coupe, so I may break it, be worth more in parts. I could be wrong and I hope you can sell yours [emoji106]

Keep it and drop in a 1.8T. That's what I'm doing in the future. 20v Quattros anywhere near the standard of yours are very very rare, believe me I looked for months and couldn't find one, ended up going for a clean, low mileage valver. Plus you might not be satisfied with the 20v, I bet you'd soon be wanting more horses, and n/a tuning is a moneypit.

Either do it properly and get an S2, or drop in the reliable powerful 1.8T. You've done a fantastic job with the car, and invested a lot of money.

              DON'T GIVE UP NOW!!!!!

                  When I said Quattro I mean a a4!

                  Been lookin at these...

                  Newer a4 1.8t and also the a6 2.7/3.0 Quattro!

If I had the space to take mine off the road and could stick a 20v in I really would!

                  But I don't and I can't

Funnily enough I sold my first coupe, a 10v 5pot, because I wanted more power, and bought a B5 A4 1.8T Sport. Quick with a remap, but I missed the character of the Coupe ever since. Hence me buying one recently!

Would be a shame to get rid.

That's the thing, you'll miss out on comfort, reliability etc with 'modern classics' like b3/b4 cars, and you'll lose out on character, rarity, appeal etc with cars we'd call 'new', like a b6 quattro..! You can't have it all unless you've got loadsa money and enough time, space and patience to do a full resto on a classic that brings it in line with modern standards.

My aim with the 1.8T swap is to keep the 'modern classic' novelty but gain a little bit of 'new car' power and reliability... under the bonnet at least!

1.8t's are a headache in reliability terms
You end up replacing every sensor and hose
Good fun though (when they are boosting properly)

I think in terms of options for the b3/b4 it's relatively reliable and cost-efficient. There are more reliable, more powerful engines than the 1.8T, but getting them put in a Coupe is another matter!

Although if you have any suggestions that could be in line with the cost of a 1.8T swap I'm all ears :-)

The vag 1.8t is an awesome engine and plentiful
                              So that's equals cheapish
All I am saying though is they are a pita or everyone I have owned has been
My s3 bam I was constantly changing sensors and searching vaccum leaks
My 1.8t mk1 has been the same
But that said they do return good power and good fun

If you want comfort, stick some OE springs and dampers in it, and revert to the proper wheel size -15"

Sling a full leather interior in it and job done.

P.s. you have far too much spare money lying about
