Its sounds stupid but the engine number should be stamped on the cylinderhead rather than the engine.
If you stand facing the engine, on the front lefthand side should be the engine number stamped onto the cylinderhead just below the rocker cover.
Its hard to see what components it now has. If you can post some pics of say the exhaust manifold, the turbo and injectors or get part numbers that should help identification. Could be you lost the Nothelle stuff but gained RS2 stuff which maybe not such a bad trade off but without the Nothelle exclusivity!

It's got a hybrid turbo, there is a tag with the model number on it. The injectors have the same part number as RS2 injectors. As for the intercooler and manifold, I can't tell with out removing some parts, which I'm sure I will have to do at some point.

The engine number matches the log book.

I thought I would update this. I've got rid of the hideous OZ wheels and fitted standard S2 wheels. This has greatly improved the tramlining it was doing before. I also had the 4 wheel alignment done this morning, so now it is driving how it should. I've replaced the front seats with a pair of black seats, fitted an original S2 steering wheels, because the one that was on there was bloody awful. I've also fitted black side skirts, the old ones where painted silver and where looking tatty.

I've bought a 2nd hand Milltek exhaust off ebay, so that will be going shortly. I'm thinking of having a custom down pipe and sport cat made to go with the exhaust. If anyone has any suggestions on where is a good place to go, that would be greatly appreciated.

Other than an array of old alarms and trackers running the battery flat every couple of weeks the cars been running well. I enquired about a respray this morning as well, so once the summer ends, I will have to check the finances.
