      Indeed.
      I don't even have RARB, it was fitted from Period: 0989 - 0991; VIN: F 8A-L-045 001>>*

My time was ~ 5.40, next quattro was 5.50 and there was a separate class for underage drivers, some kid with his dads Volvo V70 AWD drove 5.30 and it was the only car without studded tyres.

Legalized the engine swap some time ago. Even managed to pass emissions test, although not cat is installed
Engine is NG 2.3L with PS 2.0L injection, no catalyst version. No ecu, no lambda, no cat, no carbon canister, only idle speed relay which controls warm up valve. Even igntion timing is controlled with vacuum.
As the engine doesn't have lambda, then emissions are measured only at idle speed.

Rough protoype of an engine mount, have to figure out how to cast the whoule mount in on piece and hollow in the inside.
Mount should be with correct dimensions for using AEB 1.8T and similar on the B3/B4 inline engine chassis.

Thats why diff lock almost never disengaged properly.

Decided to refurbish the rear axle before it is too late.

Sandblasted, hot-dip galvanization and powder coated. Should be good for the next 60 years

While at it, decided to also refub the competition's front subframe and one spare reinforced 6 speed subframe.
The original 5 speed one was rusted through, cut off the mounts and welded them to onto a very good B3 90 subframe.

Also bought few meters of PUR rods to make new bushings for subframes and wishbones.

              Diff mounts were totally shot.

Didnt even know these thing existed unitl recently, 1st gen cast wishbone vs. later version, total overkill.

Does the hot dip galvanising do ALL of the inside of these subframes? I've got a pair ready to go off and get done, just wanted to see if the bright zinc gets everywhere

I will also be painting mine post galvanising, did you use a particular primer before paint? I've heard an acid etch is necessary to stick the paint to the zinc?..

                  Cheers!

These were painted in the same factory, right after the dipping.
Zinc must be passivated if you plan to paint it. Ask your galvanazing shop if the passivate everything or offer it.

Bought a proper old school 10VT engine donor.

                      Engine is 1B 2.2 10V Turbo from Audi 200

                      147 kW (200 HP) @5800 r/min
                      270 Nm @3000 r/min

                          Unplanned head change.
Wanted to know what kind of camshaft is installed on my current engine and discovered someones shoddy repair.
Cam caps broken and repaired with a piece on sheet metal
Also head is broken near one of the studs.

                              1000km, engine worked just fine.
Don't know how long ago this was made, wouldn't be surprised if it was done in the 90's when parts were expensive. This engine donor also had 016 gearbox and shift linkage fitted from C3, thats why i think it was made by some bush mechanic in the 90's.

New head is on, seems to be working.

Diff lock is also working, but have to wait some more for ice to get thicker. Some idiots thought it is thick enough already.

Also got the steering wheel retrimmred finally.

Looks better than before, in my opinion
