I think the fact you titled your post 'Anyone fancy a 4wd performance car' on a forum populated mainly by people who already own 'performance 4wd cars', suggests a certain level of sarcasm towards the credentials of the S2 as a 'performance car' - hence the defensive responses.

I would say it is fairly unusual for someone's passion to straddle two camps - namely
Audi = understated, overengineered, high quality, european performance
and
Mitsubishi = in your face, technologically advanced, slightly flimsy, japanese performance.

Usually enthusiasts are extremely loyal to their respective camp, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was to receive a fair bit of flack if I was to advertise an Audi S2 Avant on evolutionm.net and intentionally or otherwise, suggest it was a proper performance car compared to an Evo whatever...

More power to you for appreciating both types of 4wd performance cars, but I'd suggest a bit more thought about the title if placing on what can occasionally be a slightly' anti-jap forum.

apart from most Evo enthusiasts love Audi rally cars,RS4's ect, and have huge respect for them.

nothing wrong with that at all. i like some japanese machinery too, namely skylines.

I was however, referring to your "are you on drugs" comment, and as said above what do expect when you post it for sale on this forum. I am afraid you will have to accept you will get good and bad comments.
