For sale Scat rods

Scat claims up to 200hp and 150ft-lb per rod. So that's 1000hp and 750ft-lbs in a 5-cylinder engine. I have yet to see a Scat rod failure, and I've sold hundreds of sets. I personally have run them reliably to 600hp in a 1.8T. Needing a larger turbo to test further.

You'll be just fine, mate. Like I said, I've sold a bunch of these and I put them in cars here all the time without hesitation. In fact, when I first asked Scat how much power they'd hold, the gentleman laughed at me and said "Try to break them." So worry not and turn on the boost! ;-)

I hope James will excuse this blatant change of topic, but I gather the sale of rods is complete, so here goes....
1. If money were no object, which rods would people fit? Titanium?
2. If price was not the most important issue and assuming all the rods under consideration could handle the planned torque, what would be the deciding factor? Weight?

Titanium rods would be lovely but theres a limit to just how far one can go, other options also like larger wrist pin (most stressed part IMHO) , riffle drilling.
at the end of the day there are a few good brands out there and you pay and take your pick

OK, so now for the killer question....This thread went off topic last week

I have money to spend and am less concerned with cost. I will probably stick to the RS2 turbo for now, but I want max torque rather than BHP as I want mid-range grunt not top end speed. Should I go titanium? If not which are the best rods for me?

Titanium rods certainly are lovely and they do a fantabulous job at reducing rotational mass within the engine, however....
I think they are better suited for naturally aspirated engines where there isn't so much force put on them. One must remember that Titanium flexes more than steel, and when you have the combustion forces on the piston from a turbo engine, the Titanium will flex.
I think for our application, a forged steel h-beam or i-beam rod from a reputable manufacturer is the best way to go. Pauters may be the best and perhaps the lightest steel rods, but the tradeoff is cost. And virtually 95% of us will never even come close to utilizing the full benefits of Pauter rods. That's where less expensive, yet strong/proven/effective rods come into play.
That's my thoughts on the matter.

Thanks for the great answer
OK, so removing titanium from the equation then, how much lighter are the Pauters over the next best and how much more would they cost?
I am not interested in pushing stronger than stock rods to the limit, but I strongly believe in not only having the best, but also in making sure that the limits are never reached.
I know nowt about any of these makes so have no idea what I should be looking to buy....but I will be looking for rods soon and so looking for advice, hence more questions and less searching.

P.S. I know it is not necessarily relevant to IL5 turbos, but I have this thing about lightening the engine components as long as it does not decrease strength from tuning old Triumph normally aspirated engines, where everything was agricultural that we used to shorten the piston skirts and lighten the rods. (We also had to balance the combustion chambers as there could be a fair difference between them
)
