ABY WG are NOT wound down tight as possible from factory... They are set for 0.4 boost. Go drive with the WGFV unplugged and verify that if you like. Room for something like another 6-10 winds from memory if you wish to play but don't 'bind' the spring completely.

When you say 'super' from those places - thats not necessarily 98RON - Try Tesco99 or Shell V-Power.

Have you checked stupid things like cylinder compression and that you have the right spark plugs, correctly tightened ?

Usually about 50 quid for a dynorun - cheaper if you get jiggy with a group test...

Hmmm, I understand all that Paul but this doesn't seem to tally with what I found on my ABY, it was different to a 3B. We could not get the spring grub screw any tighter and inspecting the cap there didn't seem to be any more adjustment. I'll check again to make sure.

It sounds to me like your car's not running right at all. Mine goes like absolute feckery and I'm just about to get started on the serious mods. Standard car + homefries - some weight. And it really, really goes. And I've driven some fast cars in my time, so I know (a little bit) what I'm talking about.

If you want a spin in mine, let me know and we can compare notes. Let me get my wishbone bushes sorted out forst though
        1994 Audi S2 Avant - in pieces
2006 Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi - goes fast
        1985 Audi 90 quattro - is wet

Don't forget the East Midlands Meet -Last Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm just off M1 J28!![/COLOR]

Any chance of a pic of the screw Im meant to turn? Yes, Im useless lol

Yes, I meant V power, Esso Whateveritscalled, BP Ultimate, etc, it was just easier to type "super" than all of their full names

Not checked compression, but it had the right plugs correctly fitted about 8 months ago

ill go down shortly and take a photo to show you my mod for the wastegate. However if not touched it should work properly. So it is not wise to tweek it unless you know the car is running fine.If it is not,you are only trying to compensate for lost boost from somewhere else, which means you are straining the turbo even more

Just sell the car to someone who will appreciate it and quit your moaning!

Seriously, I think you should make sure it is running right before you start doing any additional tweeks. Something doesn't sound right.

And have you driven a Chav turbo lately? I've got friends that have had various Astra and Cavalier turbos, and yeah, they seem scary fast, 'cause it seems like I've left the door open or there's a hole in the floor.
I look upon some of my old cars with fondness, but I'm pretty sure if I drove one now they would be worlds apart from being S2 quick. Even my cq20v felt quicker than my S2 to start with, until I actually looked at the speedo on the S2 the next time I drove it on the same roads.

I agree. Martyn, get a health check on your Avant. If it is running right, there is no way these cars feel slow!

                  Best of luck.

                  Cheers,

Go on Stu, treat yourself to a peek at the speedo every now and again, it's all the rage!

Mine certainly doesn't feel slow and it's roughly the smae spec so get it boost checked and RR'd.

What performance hatch did you have before the cq, Stu?

I do every now again, but it's not a gauge I use often.

You lot have kind of missed my point.
I am basically saying: YES, the car IS fast, but it doesnt FEEL fast

I am about to fit my group buy boost gauge (at last LOL) then am going to run it with the WGFV removed to see if the WG has been played with in the past (Ive never touched it), so will be interesting to see what it gets!
                              Back soon....
