I think the rally drivers, Mikkola, Rohrl, etc, asked for the steeper windscreen angle as the ur quattro screen reflected too much of the instruments at night.

yes thats true and the replica has more top end speed because it has a bit better aerodynamics with the flatter screen .

I'm still thinking about the windshield. Is the dialynx car equiped with an upright windshield? I really want to have the authentic look on the outside. Inside is probably not going to be original. More like a rollcage and a seat But that is only going to happen if I can find that 2-door 80.

The engine is offcourse going to be similar or better then the S2. But for now the car itself is priority.

This saturday I'm going to have a look at 2 Urquattro's both in restauration condition. Will let you guys know what happens.

If i remember correctly only the more expensive Dialynx conversions have the upright screen which they then have to install a roll cage with as the roof is made of fibre glass.

have made a conversion using a 90 saloon with a coupe rear end grafted on to give the authentic steep screen look with a proper roof.

it does look better but finding bits and the hassel to modify A pillars is not an easy job and i certainly wouldn't do it or have it done unless they use a jig to allign it up properly . its a death trap if not done properly.

The Sport quattro used the front end of stock 4 door Audi 80. If you use a 2 door front end, the doors will be almost as long as the Coupe ones, albeit with a more upright frame.

Original Sport quattro had poor rear access due to the short front doors. But then again, there was no rear seating either, unless you had no legs, and it was a fire breathing brute, not meant to be practical.

What about a 4 door? Should be possible to cut right after/on top off the a-pillars and weld on the roof from the coupe there?
Are the SQ doors from a 2 door sedan or a 4 door?

The SPQ is identical to the 2-door Audi 80 sedan from A-pillar to behind the B-pillar.
The SPQ differences (on the roof) are:

The roof is wider than the Coupé versions.
The A-pillar is more upright
The B-pillar is more upright
The C-pillar is wider at the top

That means if you want to build a exact copy, you have some work to do.

Check Zsolt's well build SPQ copy with correct A and B-pillars.
This year he also rebuilt the C-pillar for the 3th time.
The dashboard is brandnew original SPQ from Audi Germany.
