Bending a crank is not easy and certainly having spent a lot of money getting your car to a standard, it hurts. I've been there!
The debt hurts too, but when you finally get the car on the road, the smile you get does make it all wothwhile (mine is off the road again right now ). You certainly can't take it with you so enjoy while you can.
    Well done for percevering.
    Chris

PS. Wonder how long before yopu'll be wanting MORE power?

You might want to put the kettle on it's a long post

Right update. My last post was that I was waiting for my crank back fom basset Down. Well that all came back and so finally it was just down to me to put it all back together. FYI apprarently the clutchnet clutch was well out of balance.

It took me an entire weekend (finishing past midnight both nights) to put the engine together and back in the car. Everything went fairly smoothley if I recall I spent a lot of time cleaning all the bolts and stuff. I do remember spending ages adjusting the turbo housings to make sure the oil feed was at 12 o'clock and then that I could do up the pipework and then attach the turbo to manifold. I have a RS2 rep log manifold from 034 which means everything is very crampt arouind the turbo area.

Earlier in this thread I asked about what people thought was the best way to put the engine in. I am now confident that I will always build it up to the inlet manifold, including attaching gearbox. Then drop the subframe and swing it in as one whole unit. I found it very easy and a very 'tidy' way of getting the engine in place.

She ran again with no problems. The 034 motorsport engine mounts seemed to give my turbo the clearance from the chassis leg. A problem Ross had with his and it was his recommendation for the mounts which made it easy, thanks.

Then I ran her in. Everything fitted except for injectors and fuel pressure reg. The lightening and balncing was very noticable very responsive and smooth in revving, despite not being aloud to go above 3000rpm for the fear or running her lean.

After 1000 miles with weekly inspections I took her to longlife in Berkeley for a 3" downpipe to be fitted. It was a nightmare, despite ringing 3 or so times to make sure they knew what they were doing and to what car. When I showed up they had nothing ready, and said they had massively under-quoted me. After some argument and comprimise they went ahead and got it done. The quality of the welds is very good, everything else a shambles. My heat shield was left insecure, a spanner was leftunnervingly close to my PS belt along with a lighter. They had also welded the downpipe straight to the rest of the exhaust and cut off one of their own exhaust brackets. So I was back on the phone and in their defence they have promised to put everything right.

After that it was off to MRC about 2 months after I had booked it in because of building work and Mihnea wanted to do it himself because they were expecting it to be difficult. What a great day that was. I had a couple of good runs hitting 140mph (ish) or was it 114mph either way it was quick! by the big corner. Mihnea said it was easy to tune and eveything went well. Except my self painted injector rail turned Dougs hands red when he fitted the new injectors and my RS2 undertray fell off on the final run and cracked. A few cable ties sorted that out.

After that I had a couple of months of ranting it about. If any of you have seen it (looks like a proper scrapper) you will appreciate how the people in much nicer cars looked when I would leave them for dead. It drove problem free except for a dirty maf making me think I had done some major damage once or twice. I will be honest, with the clutcnet clutch, ally flywheel and cone filter it does not like traffic one bit. But then niether do I so who can blame it

That brings us up to today more or less. It has been in the bodyshop for 10 weeks being re-sprayed having its arches enlarged (used to rub loads) having my halfords sunroof removed (no easy feit) and my strut brace installed. It was only supposed to take 3 weeks but as always I have had problems all the way with injuries and a slighlty bent front end which took for ever to align. I saw it a couple of weeks ago in matt black primer and was tempted to stick with matt. However I have gone ahead with the original colour (brilliant black)

I am very near completion and excited by it. I was aiming for a subtle 4 door S2 with loads of power and a bit of a prescence on the road. I think I will have all of that. I'm sure my stupidly loud exhuast (which on long journeys does etch away at my sanity a little), bonnet & wing vents, body kit and cone filter will be way OTT for a lot of you but for me each one has a purpose and adds to the car.

        Things left to do.

6 speed box, I think it needs one hopefully from A4 S or RS4. I know its extra weight but I think it needs it.

Tint my windows - possibly but I don'y want to look like night rider

wheel re-firb dark grey I think but worried about knight-rider-ishness again on a black car.

Put in my powerflex wishbone bushes sefore they rot away and get the tracking and camber done again.

I am now going to try and upload any pics of it I can find

that turbo return pipe looks a bit too long it shouldn't have a loop in it or your car will smoke. i had the same problem oil starts to back up into the turbo and it burns .

All seems well with the pipe at the moment absolutly no smoke, was yours noticeable straight away? If I can I would rather leave it, but I've only done 2000 miles in it?

after about 3 mins it used to start smoking when the pipe used to get filled up and back into the turbo .since i changed it the problem is gone .
