Nice big cabinet. Are you running it off that little compressor? Or do you have something bigger in the background? I think it's going to make your nice clean tidy garage rather dusty. I'm running mine in an empty stable.
lovely cast wishbones as well. I wish I had cast wishbones
Its a 3hp 14cfm twin piston compressor…it does a good job of holding decent pressures but the tank is small at 50ltr…mainly for space as things are getting a bit cramped now
running a vac through the dust extractor port and its been really effective and so far, the dust is well managed…pretty much none. Suction was a bit of an issue, its a 1200w wet/dry vac but it draws so hard when connected directly to the port for an airtight seal it literally sucked the gloves off the side of the cabinet
Had a productive day today, been a bit of a blast-fest, mainly using aluminium oxide to take the old paint and rust/staining etc off the items and then this afternoon, running over stuff with glass beads to finish them.
really enjoying the process of renewing parts and going from scabby, rusty bits to really nicely finished.
Few pictures…there is zero paint applied, just straight back to refinished metals.
to bet a sense of the process…here is an exhaust tension spring used where the downpipe meets the Y pipe to the cats on a 3b.
Started tackling the rust on the drivers side of the engine bay chassis leg. It looks a bit gnarly but happy to say it was mainly surface rust and cleaned up nicely.
Need some advice, been tackling some of the main rust areas in the engine bay and my son has discovered this. Trying to work out if that looks like welds from the factory or some accident repair work. I know prior to my ownership in June 2000, the car had a nearside front end repair which was tidily done with oem parts etc.
