Right, coupla more hours of messin around and it is in it's proper place. Thanks to my stumbling across a b5 rear diff for the 3.89 gears, i also have the 100mm output flanges for the 01e. Popped those in as well and so i put the front axles in too. I still need to get my mill working again and when i do, i'll cut them down the 3mm to match the 108mm flange length and it'll be that much less of a hassle to install the axles. After much searching, and a few cheap purchases on amazon, i have the couplers for the mk4 rad that will work. The lower port points to alternator. Had to find a 90⁰ coupler that works. 3C0122291 is an upper rad connection for a mk5 with auto trans. I got an aluminum one. I'll need to have the small port welded up. I also had to cut the alignment tabs off the port on the radiator to get it pointing the right way.

In my defense, the engine crane was always in the way when i was looking.

At any rate, i've sorted the offending engine mount and it's now all straight. trans mounts need a quick tweak and i'll be back to where i was last night.

So, great start to the long weekend. Trans mounts are tacked together and everything is supporting itself. I haven't gotten my shift linkage yet so i am not going to finalize trans mounts till i know i don't need more room between the box and the tunnel.

Mk4 rad and condenser also arrived today instead of next week. Looks like i will get everything i want to fit. Except i am 99% certain i will have to lose the hood release and go to pins. Oh well, can't win'em all...

Right, engine mounts are done. Need to measure where the output flanges of the 01a sit and swap boxes for the 01e and get those mounting arms made up. Hopefully by the end of this weekend i've got all the mounts done (ok, not the 3rd engine mount up front) and passenger frame rail cleaned up and closed up (it's taken a small beating for the exhaust manifold). Mk4 rad and ac condenser arrive next week so i'll get on with the plumbing. The last mechanical part will be the throttle pedal. Then wiring. Again. Sigh.

I prefer the look of euro bumpers for sure but given how people drive around here, i MUCH prefer the strength of the north american bumper! I am happy with my v8, that doesn't mean i want it in my teeth!

Got a fair chunk of welding in my immediate future. Picked up a 6spd tdi gearbox for my s6 yesterday. Will be using it to sort gearbox mounts in the coupe for now. The engine mounts need to be strengthened and finish welded first though. Fingers crossed the bell housings aren't toooooo different on the top and i run into fitment issues now....

If you want a euro S2 bumper contact Peter Hutt on the FB group he has a stash of them over in the US.

The guy who did the v8tt 4.0 swap had it in the back and it worked good I heard.

Shame you don't have a euro bumper, ive seen pics of a aan swapped cabriolet with a v6 rad, aircon rad and huge intercooler at the front.

How would it get airflow??? I am cautiously optimistic. I got it sitting on mounts with the gearbox pushed back 25-30mm. I have 50mm between the back of the b4 v6 condenser and the front of the viscous fan. I have not trimmed any of the rad support yet to sneak a cm or two. I may make it work yet. I understand people use mk4 vw rads in these swaps, those are cheap enough for me to go n try and they are not massively thick.

So, i think my wife just issued me a challenge. She's always wanted a mustang. Those have become quite $$$$. She admitted to me that she rather likes the coupe and that it could be a valid substitute. I told her that at the moment, there will be no ac due to space constraints for cooling. She didn't like that idea.

So today, i am going to see how far back i can get the engine is suppose. Experience with cv joint at extreme angles suggests they are much more tolerant that you'd think....i figure if i can get it back 30-40mm from where it is currently placed, i have a chance at a big radiator and ac fitting. Maybe even with the viscous fan??

So, managed to score a gearbox spacer locally for peanuts and the engine mounts arrived last night. Son's birthday party tonight so no work will be done but i will have the day tomorrow and shpuld be able to get the mounts sorted. They are much more compact that the oe ones. I have no doubt they will transmit more nvh, but needs must. I am not completely insane and will not modify a frame rail to make it fit!
