So, gearbox is supported, i need to fully weld it and brace some more. But from here i need to deal with the snub mount.

I am gonna play a little risky from a heat point of view. I have a pair of (i think) miltek sport cats that came from my r32 racecar. They are nice and compact. The easiest place to put them looks to be right off the manifolds and then sneaking above the axle and squeaking between the box and the floor. I will be making a robust heat shield on the drivers side as the body of the cat will be sitting ~50mm from the bottom of the steering rack and not far from the brake lines, not to mention the wiring harnesses. Oddly enough, unlike literally everything else about this swap, the passenger side presents no issues whatsoever......

    It's tight....

Chopped the trans mounts off the front subframe. The plan is begining to form....

Right, back on track, sorta. Got an 02x today (for dirt cheap). Mated it to the engine. Not entirely sure if i have made my life esier or harder, especially for exhaust. Need to make some temp mounts to see if i will be able to use the 02x mount or if i need to come up with something completely different....

so, having to change tack once again. the tdi 01e for the s6 is just not going well. I cannot find a 3.89 rear end to save my life at all now..... so that means i will not be swapping the s6 transmission into this. i have found an 02x really cheap nearby and i am looking into that at the moment. i am taking a look at it tomorrow night. i think i have most of my questions answered as to how it goes in but i am not sure about the axles. there seems to be a "correct" pair of axles that will slot right in but i have not been able to figure out where they come from. can someone please educate me on what axles will work?

    thanks.

I know that pedal is more compact but i know precious little about the v8 and how it runs. That pedal works on a c5 s6 and has the same throttle body as the s8 engine i am using but i decided to play it more cautiously and use the d2 setup as i know it is made for the ecu i am using.

Got some pipes and a couple of v-bands today to start on the exhaust. I think though my first step will be to put it all back in the car and place the cats on some temp brackets as they are the key to the situation. Once that's sorted, i'll pull it all back out and connect the dots. This will be practice for the same task on my s6 this winter.

The last tricky fab work??? I hope??? Gotta deal with downpipes and cats. I figure this will make the job (slightly?) easier. Have added a jack for stability.

Pretty sure i am gonna modify the front subframe MORE in order to pack the cats in tight and not have the pipes be the lowest part of the car.

Oh ffs it'sxalways something. I had a bad feeling so i looked up the safety standard. Doesn't look like hood pins are allowed sooooo, i gotta figure out a proper latch. Was thinkin that bmw solution on the side. Because of course though, there's no damned room on the passenger side....maybe if i strengthen the upper rad support somehow an just use a single latch in the middle???
