Still waiting for parts, been cleaning up and painting little bits and pieces.

Spoke to another garage regarding the safety inspection situation in this province and, while it will be a gongshow when they make the changes, i no longer have any fears about passing. There's emphasis placed on certain aspects but as long as the others are in the photos, no harm no foul. The unfortunate thing is that it WAS confirmed the the idiot at the ministry with zero practical automotive knowledge WILL have the authority to overrule the machanic in stating something is safe or not.

    Stupid.

Hoping to get the filler on this weekend..... as i have said for how many months now?!

I hear ya, the timing was pretty crap for me too as i found put the day after 17z calipers arrived from ebay. Trying to sell those now for 60% what i paid and zero bites lol.

I mean, i guess i can use them as spares for my s6 but still....

I bought a set of those the other day. I wish those would have been around when I refurbishing all the suspension and brake components on my car.

Ya, he dropped out. That's why the project continues. I'll probably try again when it's in primer but the asking price is only gonna go up.

My oldest will be driving in 6 years so maybe he gets a really cool first car out of all of this. ..

Where did you source the S2 hubs from? Has someone reproduced them?

So, busy weekend getting things cleaned up before winter. Of cpurse it's gonna be 23⁰ later this week but whatever lol.

Garage is getting a bit of a clear out and the car is in the shelter at the moment.

Got the cabrio uprights on the bench, cleaned up and one side painted.

S2 hubs and bearings arrive at the end of the week and the brake setup next.

I'll have the car back in the shop this weekend to finally start the filler i think. Once that is done it will go back into the shelter for a good long while so i have plenty of space for all the other bits this winter.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. I am gonna get a car shelter and stuff it in there for the winter. I am going to get the filler done on the 2 spots and then put a coat of primer on the shell first though. So a small flurry of activity for the moment.

I'll see what comes from the brakes. Opened up my search criteria here and i am increasingly hopeful about the 288 thus 312 rotor option. I will probably create another thread in brakes that makes it clear in hopes it becomes a sticky for posterity.

As for the door hinges and little crap like that, i think i will get a heated ultrasonic cleaner off good ol amazon and clean them that way.

I have to say, I was a little surprised to see your ad on FB. If you can find some space to let it set, you will find the energy to come back to it. I think you would regret selling it later on down the road.

I wish I could help you with the questions about the door hinges...hopefully you got that figured out. You may not have any local AutoZone stores, but they have reman'd calipers on their website.

Thank you for the input but unfortunately for me, old range rovers are even less common than old audis around here. Such an experiment would require me to buy new. If i could find.

I do have a couple leads on g60s now which is good.

last night however i DID find that i still have a caliper for b5 288mm brakes that i pulled from the scrapyard when getting the rears and currently usingvthe rotors on the car to make it roll. If those fit, then that solves the saftey inspection question. But then i THINK that confirms the idea of the 312s as well?

If that works then i can ditch the 17z and all of the adapter bracket malarky and live my life. After that, the only thing i'll hafta find to ensure a smooth safety will be urs6 avus wheels. The reason being there will be questions about the wheel spacers needed to fit the 17s.

The hubs and bearings get here next week which means this weekend i'll prep and paint the knuckle. We will find out soon enough.

On a side note, the Range Rover brake pads look close in overall dimensions to the S2 G60 according to online supplier diagrams. Even if some "adjustments" were necessary it would open up a wider choice of pads as finding pads for G60's can be a challenge.
on the pics pad 21288 is the OE S2 pad. The second one 23452 is Range Rover.

I have been researching an OE looking replacement caliper for S2 G60's for a long while now. My latest findings are to try the 2 pot caliper from the Range Rover P38 (1995 - 2002, and same as Discovery 2 1999 approx). These are virtually identical to G60's. I've bought a new caliper for detailed measurements but I haven't got around to checking it as my S2 is blocked in by other project cars. These calipers also feature bigger pistons giving a small improvement over G60.
I don't have a Range Rover mounting bracket for this caliper so hub mounting bolt dimensions are unknown. It would be worth your time to visit your local scrapyard and grab a caliper with mounting bracket for a few bucks.

So, buddy backed out. Wants to buy a clapped out one in toronto for the same asking price who's sills are totally rotted out.... go figure.

I guess that means i press forwards....

So i should probably get the s2 hubs while available. I may need some g60 calipers if the one pair i have found locally doesn't work out, anyone have a pair they want to get rid of?

I have to do the fall cleanup (2 acres of leaves to collect ) this weekend but then i guess i suck it up and deal with this thing...

I'll try n sell for a lot more once it's done??
