Yes. Tested both switches this morning and appear to be working with all contacts good. When the engine is running, the idle drops slightly and the engine tone changes then the warning light goes out. It lasts a few seconds then returns to normal and the warning light comes back on. I think the noise is coming from the pump.
However, brakes and pas are good and after switching off pedal takes 16 pumps before it goes hard. This is apparently in spec and safe. I think the system pressure is down slightly intermittently triggering the warning.

Sal on this good forum gave me his spare door handle so I could replace the damaged lock barrel.
Getting the door car off is very easy compared to an S2

With both barrels cleaned, I carefully swapped the key tabs over.

I was hoping I could just swap the broken end over but they appear to be pressed on.

This little spring is quite fiddly to get back on right.

And these rods are a pain.

But we got there in the end. To my complete surprise it's working properly first time. Shock!

Today I re fitted the wiper arms and some new blades. Because early Quattro's have lhd wipers, the aero blade is upside down. I'm sure no one will notice.

The paint is good from far but far from good. I thought I would get the polisher out and see what could be done.

There are lots of scratches, scuffs and small dents all over. I think this car was buried in junk when it was in storage.

        Slightly better.

So the plan is to get some estimates for a full glass out re spray. Anyone recommend someone good who takes a lot of care?

You can take apart the aero fom the wiper and invert it, I guess it won´t be dificult for you.

I found a nice set of 8j alloys to fit. They need a refurb and new tyres. They were advertised up in Scotland and my wife picked them up for me whilst visiting her folks.

Those will look stunning once refurbished, a perfect wheel choice IMO as the optional BBS RS rims whilst looking great are a total PITA to keep clean. I use to run RM's on my last MK2 Golf and gave up in the end as the only way to keep the bloody things clean is to wash them off every time you take the car out. What size tyre is right for the car? At an educated guess I'd say 215/50's but that's now a really expensive size, 225/50's would be my second guess and they're much cheaper.

Yes, 215/50/15 is what Audi fitted on 8j rims. Available but expensive. Most people go 225/50.

I will probably get the 225 in Toyo. Cant really justify spending over £1k on 215 Perreli.

Nothing wrong with Toyo's, they make great tyres for all budgets. My only criticism is they don't tend to last as long as some of the premium brands offerings but on a low use car that really isn't a concern.
