So Carlos... This is good, when you drill thru for each big plug, it would be cool to take some depth measurements so we know how much/little material is there - on the 7A block at least.

Explain the crank, rod & piston thing to me - my brain isn't working today - how do you get 2.5L on that setup ?

                  Darn...

Think i'll have to sacrifice my spare block for this, to be on the safe side.

Nope, only going for the 92.8mm crank, 144mm rods and off the shelf Wossner pistons from a VW block...which matches crank stroke, rod lenght and a deck height of 220mm.

                    Done deal.

A few more differences on the 7A block...

the oil filter fitting needs to have 2 guides fitted and the short stubby threaded piece removed so the new filter housing can be fitted. I used 2 M5 X 12MM spirol pins tapped in to leave 5MM showing and the stubby thread came ut with some pipe grips.

                            Bad news folks...

Trying to attach the ABY tensioner to a 7A block will be mighty tricky...not really enough material in the block where the 3 holes are drilled to make a good water tight seal...but there is plan 'C'...

                              .

This is the tensioner from a late v6 80, bolted into the very rhs top hole of the block.
It will need a 'stand-off' pilllar to clear the pump and once i've fitted the rest of the belt parts i can check that correct tensioning is achievable.

Anyone borrow me an ABY cambelt for a wee while...still trying to source my 25mm...
