Rear clustser issues could well be corrosion / dodgy joints on the rear cluster boards. I would suggest you take the board out of the rear light and take a look. This is a classic "Disco Lights" fault on the Coupe rear lights.
Cheers,
Steve.

just about mate. taxing and insuring today, then have to wait a couple of days and claim a windscreen then put it in for the MOT and pray I don't have a massive amount of work to get it through. I'm confident about most of it, having put it together. If it fails on anything it will be bushes or brakes I reckon. Brakes have definitely improved with nipping up and down to the house but one is rubbing very slightly. Probably a caliper runner sticking. i'll have a look at the weekend.
almost scared to look forward to the MOT now.

Left the car in for MOT this morning. Just praying he doesn't phone to say every bush on the car needs replaced or something (since I didn't change the suspension).
I know all about the rest of the car and am fairly confident about most of it. you never know though do you? brake lines, fuel lines, bushes...
Ah well. I'm bloody amazed to even get to this stage.
(Rob - stripped the brake last night and carrier was moving fine. Don't know why the brake pad isn't wearing evenly. Gave the whole thing a good going over with the wire brush and put it back together again.)

Steve - I'll be coming up your way soon for a good drive and to buy you lunch. I would have thrown the toys out of the pram long ago and broken the car if you hadn't made the effort to come down and help me with the engine.
I feel like i'm waiting to hear about a relitave in hospital. haha

hehe. I jest of course.
Actually it's not too bad. As follows:
NS front indicator wrong colour (obviously i've used a white bulb with white lens. doh!)
fog light not working. didn't check that before i sent it in. again.. doh!
NS track rod end excessive play
need front brake pads
rear discs pitted so need replaced too
NS rear bearing has play. so needs tightened or replaced.
NS rear parking brake "recording little effort". new caliper methinks.
parking brake efficiency below requirements.
I'll escape down to the garage over a couple of evenings and see if I can get it back in for a retest by the end of the week.
honestly.. having just assembled a car out of 2 broken cars (and a few extra bits) I'm pretty happy with that list
