Need to change the oil, coolant,
Fit new turbo and Boost Hoses

      Right,

Going to be fitting new turbo and samcos next week so though it would be a good idea to change the oil and fit new filter etc before changing out the turbo.
Was looking through some threads and was wandering what you guys recommend
      In the oil department?

Also when fitting the new turbo and to ensure oil is circulating in the turbo bearing before running the car which is the best hose to remove while cranking the engine?

      cheers

I've removed the turbo oil-return hose from the block, easy enough if you're changing hte oil lines when you fit the turbo as well; crank it with the injectors unplugged until oil starts weeping from the oil return pipe and you can be sure the turbo bearings are lubricated! And yes, change the oil while you're there

I use Silkolene 10W-50 works a treat, slightly better than the 10W-60 I was using before. Buy it in bulk (2 or 4 cans) from Opie Oils with s2forum discount, works out about £35 per 5l last time i stocked up!

        Cheers

Me V6 avant alternator died this weekend so had to fit a new one before I could start on the s2.
With that job finished I removed S2 front bumper and started cleaning pipework with a rag on a string to pull through all the metal boost pipes to make sure I got out all traces of metal from the old turbo damage.
Removed intercooler and shipped off to local Rad/cooler repairer for a good flush and pressure test
Intercooler was stuck on with some sort of sealer had to scrape it all off to get it ready for the MH mod.
Hope to get the samcos on tomorrow then its oil change before fitting new turbo

good luck with the install seems more daunting than it actually is I have found...just more time consuming than I thought doing anything on an S2!

You sticking with that size intercooler or going bigger?

Sticking with this one at the moment was just trying to get the new turbo installed and running good first, then hope to do some more mods when the bank balance recovers

Drooling over a rs2 airbox at the moment

The S2 slush fund is now offically empty

Rs2 airbox is a good start then probably best to get the intercooler and the rest of the kit and put it up to rs2 ish spec.

Yeah most s2 owners pockets tend to be empty.
