In regards to the crumbly panel??? How does that happen???
On a car made from Galvanized Steel. My 20V CQ(1990) has absolutely no rust on it at all. And I live in a snow/salt area. The only way I think that could happen is that it was a dodgy repair of an accident, using inferior materials....or a rock/debris hit that got through the galvaized coating and was allowed to grow & expand.

There was a boost hose that was er....rather poorly fitted, the jubilee clip was holding the hose at the and it was firm, but the bottom half of the hose wasn't even on the outlet for the intercooler. I must have pulled it off, struggling like hell to put that pipe on.glad you sorted it Mark - what had you fluffed exactly???

You got my text about the boost leak test, I dont need to do one, although I'm available Saturday if you need a hand with anything.
Not had a chance to have a full bore run yet, blew the fitting off the back of the boost gauge
It boosted nicely though, I'm hoping I've also managed to cure an irritating idle problem. Kept cutting out on me everytime I got to a roundabout or a junction.
Panzerwagen - I'm near on certain the car has been in a bump at some point in its life, and that wing may well be a gash pattern replacement part.
Ranz - A chap on here (HPmuirt) did a group buy for them boost gauges, but you can buy them individually from http://www.audi2fast.de Only problem is, its all in German.
I've still been thinking about an S8, yes I've spent alot of time and money on the S2 but at this moment in time, I'm very much out of love with turbocharging, and also, I dont know whats going to wrong with it next.

There would be nothing left of it if I did that.
Took it to work and back last night. I'd forgotten at how quick it was, but after the Homefry, its a different animal. Big thanks to Paul for that, as well as supplying the Samco's too.
Boost gauge is still leaking a little so I'll have to take a look at that in the next few days, see why its doing that.

A few pictures from recent goings-on.
Horrible front wing:

Black Samco's, you cant really tell much difference, but I dont want to be going the whole hog under the bonnet regarding bling factor:

I'm now suffering from a duff battery (again), so we're back off the road (yes, again).

New battery today, thankfully I found the warranty for the old one so that was replaced free of charge.
Also, I thought I'd take a look at the front brake pads, as I wasn't sure if that was the reason my ABS light was staying on and also as I had a set to change them with anyway.
Upon first inspection, they looked to be pretty good, with still a decent amount of meat left on them. I thought I'd whip them out the caliper anyway, just to be doubly sure and I was greeted by this:

Yes that is meant to be the same pad! This was on the drivers side, but both of the pads on the passenger side were loose and coming away from the backing and probably wouldn't have lasted much longer. Needless to say, I replaced the whole lot, and I'm in the process of bedding the new pads in. They're nothing special, only TRW items from Euro Car Parts but at least they're in one piece.
For the first 15-20 miles of bedding these pads in, I had an awful vibration and squeaking noise coming from the drivers side, but that has stopped now, I'm not too sure exactly what it was. Stopped twice in that time to see if anything frighteningly obvious was there, but to no avail. Also, the ABS light is STILL on. Never mind.
Also done today, I've ordered a H4 HID Bi-Xenon kit, as I want to retain my dip-beam and full-beam. These aren't the cheapest I could have bought, but they look to be a decent kit, and anything has got to be better than what I've got right now. Hopefully if I have the chance when fitting these, I'll clean the reflector inside the headlight too.

Going to order a new front wing on Wednesday, as well as send some money off for a bonnet release cable, as mine has pretty much had it.

Audiparts has loads of wings for sale on ebay - might be worth a punt?
As for ABS, run a wire brush over all the abs rings and make sure the sensors are free from crap.
If you still have a problem, do a resistance check on each sensor, see if one is open circuit......sigpicComment

I had a brief problem with it a while ago but I think that was down to a slightly ropey battery. Its re-occured again since I finished all the work on it and has never gone away since, I thought replacing the battery might have cured it but it didn't. At least it'll start in the morning now though.

When you order your bonnet release cable, get a new grommet for it too, worth it as if disturbed it will leak and you'll have the soggy drivers footwell syndrome. ABS light is probably dirt/rust on the toothed ring as said but sometimes a badly adjusted sensor.Comment
