RS2 Turbo came from Billman on here..I bought the manifold from ebay (rep) but does the job ..a few imperfections but nothing i could not fix(crap studs)
Well the engine is fitted and running ...whoo hoooo...A couple of bits to deal with lower oil feed pipe to turbo has small leak at join and the exhaust is blowing a little at the join on the bottom of the down pipe....
Well went for the test drive and the clutch is slipping like mad at the top end...Power kicks in hard at 3500 and when it does the clutch fails
I posted a separate thread regarding clutch and possible faults...But after today I have check the whole system but have not found any clear reason for it failing
So you guessed it !!
I am going to have the engine out again ...was going to take the gearbox out but since i have had the engine out everything will come off and will be a straight forward process
Going to have the flywheel skimmed as it must be at fault as the clutch failed on me before the engine was taken out and maybe the clutch from techniclutch (phone call to these guys tomorrow!)...but going to make sure i dont miss anything out with this ....Bit of a school boy error as i should of checked the flywheel (run-out) before fitting the engine but there you go ...live and learn ....Tuesday night i will get the engine out and hopefully back in on Saturday morning
Flywheel face has been ground ready to be mated to Kevlar friction plate,Stronger pressure plate , looking all clean and shiny..cant wait to stick it on
Only thing is I have to drive it for 500miles(more gear changes than long distance required) to bed the face of the flywheel and the friction plate together then it is ready for high boost
We have life ..Have just done a marathon stint finished 30minutes ago...All bolted up ..bled the whole clutch system to for good measure..car running sweet ..and clutch pedal has strong bite to it .... roll on 500miles
Well back from Hong Kong and jet lagged to hell but I got to take the coupe for its first proper run today ..even with the WGFV disconnected and running a 1.9bar WG ..it was good at putting a smile on my face..no slipping for the power it had ..so well chuffed just need to roll on 500miles then I can run full power
