I could fit the steering wheel to my son's push along car. he'd be the coolest mother funker in nursery

I really do miss the s2. Granted the 3.0 V6Q A4 is pretty good but not quite there. I'm trying to make up for it with lesser coupes but they just don't compare

seriously though.. i'm really impressed with the work you're doing to the car

Nice exhaust Steering wheel wise I went for a Momo mod.78 suede 350mm, best size IMO, 330 was too small and the OE 365 is too big. As for the design, I love classic Momo Corsa style so it's close but not quite the one but if it 's cheaper then good work.

        cheers noel
@Andy that steering wheel is £95 but obviously i need a hub to mount it to so all in all it'll be around £140 all in which is pretty average, but it looks in the pics. Will make my mind up when i see one in the flesh.

I really like the standard S2 wheel, but that one does look very nice and is not too dissimilar to the original so should fit in subtlety.

I'm building a 3" system for my car at the moment, was the straight section from Jetex expensive? and what grade steel is it?

take a look on their website-there's a full list of parts and prices (i can't remember what grade it is or what price off the top of my head))
it's not what i'd call super cheap but bear in mind the straight lenghts are swaged,if it's cheap you want you could always go for mild-but i'd sooner pay for stainless
i have a spare length-but that's to make a side exit for when the mood takes me:mischeif:

The first of the service parts have arrived from quattro corner(top service BTW):

              no-quattro corner doesn't sell kettles
the next batch is due tomorrow, that being all the bits to replace the fuel lines, a couple of bits for fitting the exhaust aswell as an engine and fuel system flush all courtesy of our kid.
it's gonna be a fun packed weekend
i was originally going to do the cambelt, waterpump and aux belts at the same time, but i think i'll leave that until the front end gets re-modelled for the intercooler setup i have in mind:mischeif:

Well i've spent the best part of today fitting the downpipe and center section-all in all not a bad day, although i was confronted with this in the morning:

i may have to introudce the culprits to mr air rifle if it carries on
a few pics of things coming together:

the service pit definately made life easier, beats th driveway hands down!
                downpipe in situ:

the driveshaft cover was too close for my liking so it's been removed,i'll see if i can get it to clear better tomorrow

the rear section drops to 2.5" over the axle then meets upto the rearbox(2.75")i can't see it being a problem.

it sounds sooo good and feels better for it although there are a couple of minor clearence issues when giving it the beans,i'll have another look tomorrow-probably one of the crusty old heat shields.unfortunately i couldn't do the fuel lines as i can't get the bits until wednesday, although i wouldn't have had time anyway.
Tomorrow is service day which i think is overdue as the plugs for one look like the ones it left the factory with-goes to show that bosch parts are made to last.
anyway i'm off to relax with a few cold beers.

Careful with Synta Gold, it's quite a light oil, 5W40 rings a bell. If you're planning on track days you really need xxW60 to protect the turbo seals.

hmm,i didn't know that, thanks for the advice,i think it'll be a while before it sees a track,so for now it should be fine but i'll bear it in mind when i change it again(i usually do it every six months)

cheers, nice to know people are interested,i'm in two minds on what i want power wise at the moment,i may just fit hybrid turbo, and bigger intercooler, that would see maybe 320hp on stock em and injectors, and then maybe build a 2.5 stroker in my spare time for some serious beans,it means i can drive it while im building a good, powerfull motor-time/money will tell-probably see you at leeds meet if you're off

Car got it's service today, not without it's problems-like putting the sump plug in and the oil, only to find the copper washer from the sump plug in the oil tray
Seems a little smoother for it mainly due to the new plugs ,i noticed the other day when giving it the beans that it was misfiring a little-all gone now though.
Engine flush got rid of a load of crud from over the years(litter trays are good for oil drops aswell as cat dump):

                          The old plugs:

had a scary moment when removing the plugs,i thought one had threaded in the head, thankfully it was only my old school plug key catching the inside of the head, the resistance of it put the willies up me though
I've managed to get some garage time with my bro next weekend to do the fuel linesaswell as that, the roll cage should arrive by the end of the week,i've hopefully scored a new welder at a good price but on the negative side, the driver footwell was full of water this morning so that needs looking at sooner rather than later will it ever end?
