since the sleeves are pressed on and the sleeves are pressed down (by the springs) all the time when the car is on the ground, it is not necessary to weld them all around, since it only are to keep the sleeve from spinning around the strut,
Got it?

Fronts are 140N/mm.
Rears 180N/mm
these are just a rough figure until i know the exakt weight etc of the car
rears are also stiffer because of the MR (gear ratio between spring and wheel)
Mcpershon strut is approx. MR 0.95
you know what the helpersprings are for huh?

Why are helper springs a must? i was advised my Mance not to bother as his kit is designed to be used with out them.
Would like to know if they are needed though so i can add them to the shopping list.
Edit: how can the spring be compressed when the shock is fully uncompressed? What happens to them when the shock starts to compress?91 S2 coupé - RIP

they work like this:
if you have 100mm travel on the shock, you want 60mm in and 40mm out, and since an stiff sping not compress 40mm with just the car standing on the ground, so you will get no travel "out" with helpersprings, you can have a shorter spring that allows "out" travel on the shock, but the helperspring keep everything tight otherwise the main spring would fall off the seats when uncompressed,
with me?

When the stroke of the damper is longer than the spring, on fully rebound position the spring will be hanging loose. You can help this by taking a longer spring. Disadvantage is that the ride height will increase. Therefor is it better to use a helper spring that will fill up the gap in rebound, but will fully compress under normal ride height.
Nice springs, look like Faulkners to me.
Why the needle bearing? The entire leg can rotate around the top bearing in the camber plate?Comment
) but i wont wait 4mnths again for new seats, so i will go with these...
