Cabletree
Hi
I think the words that you are looking for are wiring loom.
It is hell of a job getting it right but just needs patience and some midnight oil!
Good luck in your quest!
Cheers,
John B
So I just introduced myself, to find some info and because I'm an audi freak. Maybe it's fun to share my project here, too. With a friend of mine, I'm building an audi S2 sedan, a model of wich only 306 have been made. As far as I can find out, there's none in the Netherlands currently, so we have a pretty rare car here.
As base we use an audi 80 competition, wich allready has S2 bumpers stock. But that's where the stock story ends. We have an audi S2 coupƩ, with a 3B engine. We completely stripped the S2 (it was allready broken and quite stripped), took the engine out to replace some parts (integrated engineering rods, ligt flywheel (5.3 kg), RS2 injectors, RS2 exhaust manifold, brand new RS2 kkk24/7200 turbo, etc) and also the gear box wich will have a new, stronger clutch. We also exchange the axles, and the rear axles will be from a S2 avant (we allready have them). The braking system will also completely be exchanged, and we allready have big porsche brakes for 323mm brake disks.
Well, it's a really long story, but we are now at the point where the engine will be put back together, but first the whole crankshaft with rods, pistons, pully, flywheel and clutch have to be balanced for smooth riding. That will happen soon. In the meanwhile, we'll exchange the cabletree (don't know the english word, it's a liturally translation), wich is quite nasty work. Luckaly we've labelled all connectors.
Well, that's it for so far, some pictures with it will show the progress. It 10 pix each post so I'll post some more posts.2001 996 C4 - Being renovated

Loom
Yeah you are lucky if all the connectors are labelled. The loom is the word that describes all the electrical wiring that is bound up with tape to fit all the spaces that it has to go.
Have fun!

Loom has been transferred and connected to the comp... and also the S2 braking system, because it's better than the original competition system, and also placed new braking lines for the porsche calipers. Now waiting for the engine and tranny mounting studs and the engine itself. Also ordered a new exhaust manifold, new spark plug cables (is that the right word? hehe), used but good original S2 3b katalysators (they were quite cheap so we eventually can use the flanges to mount sportkats in a year or so), and this week we're going to order some performance suspension (koni or KW set) and powerflex rubbers at larkspeed, the pound exchange rate is quite good for us to buy in the UK at the moment. We placed the ECU behind the dashboard on a different place so we don't have to remove all isolation and stuff, and put new tape around the loom because the old was totally disintegrated
. As I said we can hopefully put the engine back in next week, depends on the waiting time for the mounts..... They are not ordered yet (will be today or tomorrow) and have to come from 034 (USA). We have a few days in a row to work on it next week, so that's way better than max a few hours a week as it goes now...

That's a nice question
The battery will come in the back most probably, the radiator bracket has yet to be made. I think we'll make one ourselves and weld it to the frame, as it's been done in the S2. But it has to be quite strong, so I'll take some time somewhere this or next week to figure out how to make it as strong and reliable as possible and not too complicated... The battery bracket will be completely removed.

Removed the radiator bracket today with the flex. All gone now, and space for the radiator and aircoradiator. Also removed the std competition rear diff for a RS2 rear diff, because the transmission ratios are different. I found some RS4 rear brakes, nice large disks and adapters to fit the calipers. It's just bolt-on, really easy. Also mounted a new S2 air intake (couldn't find any RS inlets, maybe when the engine runs I'll search for one) with a new *what is it called.... liturally translated "air mass weigher"*. Had to drill out the rear ABS sensors, they were totally rusted and horrible to remove. Had to swear a lot to get hem out. Now still waiting for a lot of parts coming from all around te world... Also mounted the oil cooler.Comment

Seen the amount of time and money spent, it'd better be
But we filled up (nearly 2 litres of special oil went in) and mounted the RS2 diff (with the new track density 034 bushes) and cleaned and greased and mounted the axles, tried to fit in all powerflex but they're not all the right ones
So we have to order new ones for the rear lower arm rear side and wait before the suspension can be placed back.

Well it has been a while. If everything goes well, the engine will be finally finished monday. Too bad we haven't had much time to work on the car lately. But the suspension and braking is finished now.
Rear: RS4 disks, anchors, backplates and yellowstuff brake pads in girling 41/43 calipers.
Front: Porsche brakes on adapters with A8 323x30mm disks, also yellowstuff pads.
The koni's are in place together with new springs and stronger wishbones have been mounted. All powerflex bushes (race suspension) are also placed, together with track density diff / tranny / engine mounts from 034 motorsport.
On the 11th. there's some welding planned, for the radiator mount especially and some small things. Will make some nice pix then I hope, also of the engine.Comment

I am going to put the battery in the spare wheel box, together with the big-@ss mofo amplifier
.
@Rix, 2500 competitions were made. The S2 that is in pieces was one of 52 original dutch ones. Unfortunately it was allready totally stripped when we bought it. But the chassis is sold to someone with a damaged S2, he's going to completely rebuild it. We built it this way because, in my opinion, it's only getting better. Besides the huge brakes and 5x112 rims you can't see the difference between the original car but it'll now have around 350 hp
