Do you mean on the individual wire connectors or on the plastic. Can't see anything on the wire connector. Will have a look at the plastic a bit later. Bit awkward at the mo trying to hide under the desk in work to look for a part number. Hope I don't get caught.

I had a quick look at the Tyco site. Looks like you need the pin size, not too sure what else. I'll have a better look tomorrow. The total length of the connector is about 19mm and the receptor part is about 10mm.

I'll let you know if I find anything.

If you have the new pins from new connector then you may as well solder-splice & heatshrink the old wires into the new tails - ugly I know with the yellow things but such is life.
Getting new bare pins needs some inside knowledge on details of that connector... Took me ages to do this for Bosch JPT plugs.

Can you see any AMP part numbers on the connector bodies ?
That might help with an on-line search...

I searched for ages for terminal pins, then found them right under my nose at VWP.

Fantastic find STU - what a star - I would never have guessed VWP had them either... Guess those pins are more generic than we thought. VWP sell the crimpers too from memory.

Buy that man a beer... I must remember to paste that into a separate sticky in the electrical section.

I could hardly believe it either.
Try searching for AMP with respect to electrical stuff. I eventually found the Tyco site, and got lost. Then found them in the catalogue that was sat on my desk when I was looking for something else. Always the way.

Splicing with a soldering iron is easier.

Thanks guys. Very good find. The one thing I will say is that the existing connectors do not have the locating tab on them. I'm sure that won't make a difference.

Totally agree with the soldering comment, but then I can't solder for toffee.

Well, the engine's finally back in the car. It's been a while, took it out on Christmas eve.
Now I'm trying to remember where everything goes. Main problem is that some things were disconnected as the engine came out. Now the engine's back in, there's less room to reconnect.

There seems to be an issue at the moment with clearance at the back of the engine. The engine mount studs are at the extreme front of the holes in the mounting brackets. This means the engine is sitting as far back as it can, a bit further than I would like. I've tried lifting it a bit with the trolley jack and pulling the whole thing forward. Not really worked so far. Any suggestions?

Apart from that, things seem to be progressing reasonably well.

                      All help gratefully received.

                      Cheers

If the engine happy being that far back then I'd say its a good thing --> less weight ahead of front axle.

Or is clearance impossible at the back now ?

Clearance is a bit of an issue. It could really do with moving forward a bit. 5mm would make a difference. I'll have another go later.

I think I may also have an issue with the exhaust alignment to the RS2 downpipe. As you look from the front, the left hand pipe is almost lined up but the right hand side is well out. The downpipe sits a lot higher than the exhaust. Will have a better look later.

I'm not sure if the gearbox mounts are slotted, as they govern the position on the engine. Obviously the gearbox is bolted to the subframe. Moving it will alter the linkage too.

I have now had a better look . I haven't refitted the subframe yet and I think it may be that the engine is tipped backwards rather than the whole thing being too far back.
Will be refitting the subframe soon so I'll find out for definite then.

Well, it was the lack of a subframe that caused the engine to tilt backwards.

It's all back in one piece now and it passed the mot with flying colours. Not checked the printout yet but he said the emissions were very clean.

Have to say a big thankyou to Paul (S2 central) for his speedy turnaround on the ecu. Posted Sat and received it back on the Wed. Superb service and superb results.
Also, a big thankyou to Peter (Quattrocorner). Again his quick service and help with parts made a difference.

Looking forward to the next few weeks driving but it's going to cost me a fortune at this rate. Can't stay away from the loud pedal.
