The GT40 looks like a dinky car next to the A8...Comment

Darren! Now this is just not fair! You have the best of both worlds
As for selling, still thinking, but tending to think SOD it, lets keep the quattro and polish it a little more, the small things you do can often be the most satisfying. The suspension can still be improved a little, and then I can enjoy driving it harder than ever, maybe even brave a trackday.
Still want a muscle car that handles though! (if there is such a thing)Angus

What have you done or not done with your suspension set up?
H&R Springs and Koni Inserts. All standard bushes (replaced about 8,000 miles ago when the car had standard power!)
So, I could quite easily drop in some Poly wishbone bushes and ARB bushes.
Subframe bushes not so easy to change though! Alloy ones, do they really tighten her up or not?
Once it's settled into the corner it's fine, but there could be a bit less play/slop about the dead centre.....
The gearshift quality could probably be finessed a little too....
oh, and has the GT40 got the "bag of snakes"

Yes I'm just about to rosé joint my gear linkage for the same reason. As for suspension mine runs power flex wishbone bushes and alloy subframe bushes, billie shocks with 30% up rated standard ride height springs, it certainly does not feel wooly and equally not to harsh..Comment

Let me know how you get on with the rose jointing, would be great to see some pictures. The return springs were changed on my 01E gearbox were changed which were very worthwhile (they screw into the side of the gearbox and help centre the lever)Yes I'm just about to rosé joint my gear linkage for the same reason. The linkage is a real PITA to get to!
Now have some wishbone and arb bushes to fit/get fitted, think I will try this before going to alu subframe mounts as the subframe mounts are stock but were not long ago replaced.
Prj though my car was very stiff, but it seems almost magic carpet like when comapred to my RS.... I think we also woke up most of St Albans early one sunday morning!Angus

Nice cars, what can I say. Wish I could try to drive that Ford someday...
Yeah, I think the Ur was loud and quite stiff. But for a hobby car that's not bad at all.
And you still have your Focus RS daily driver

Ralley quattro looks like he went for even louder with that extra small rear box

My brakes are still not quite as good as they could be.
They have the power is just about good enough, but take a lot of pedal effort.
Looking to improve both.
All the asist circuit, switches, bomb, master cylinder and prop valve have been repalced over the past few years. I have Porsche 986 calipers on the front.
I believe I have the standard 22mm tandem master cylinder.
Does anyone know if there is another larger VAG MC I could use, presumably to decrease the pedal effort, or increase the pressure applied?Angus

to be honest I rarely use them as the Porsche and the Ur are just so much more fun..
