Any regrets?
I couldn't sell mine. It would be like Han Solo selling the Falcon.

Hi guys
Firstly I hope you find a good home for your labour of love.
I too am now considering changing from the kkk26/GT3071r I have been driving my GIrl friend's stock ABY and it's reminded me of the good fun the stock turbo offers.
In SA I couldnt find a tuner to custom tune the motronic so I now have a VEMs in the cupboard. I also have the Wagner short intake kit.
I want to get rid of that spongy feel of accelerator and change to a turbo that provides a better streetable feel.
Would you recommend the change to a GTX2876 or smaller and did you find this turbo offered far better transient response than the 3071 did?Leave a comment:

ThanksIt is of course your call, but I have had mine 22 years now and it's done 6 miles in the last year, I am MOT'ing it tomorrow to go to MRC next weekend, it has the wrong map (though safe) and will probably be laughed at given what people expect from it but I couldn't care less its mine owes me nothing and will always be a Ur..... And I don't care if it does 6 miles in the next year either...
As I say your call, best of luck with the sale. If Mrs Jones was on holiday I would have it of you....... And think of my excuses later...but she's not...
I'm quite happy with my decision so far, and have advertised it on a few sites over the weekend.
For me I think I want to be having more fun whilst going slower, and enjoying some retro fun.
I'm happy that I have done most things that I want to do with the car, inc a trip to Le Mans and back.
I just hope I can find a good home for it.Leave a comment:

After 7 years I fancy something different, something a bit older I think.
I have also had some knee operations and nearly ruptured a tendon in my foot (clutch foot) so haven't been able to drive it as much as I would like.

Great job Angus.A small update;
I wanted to chnage my air filter as I throught it was a little on the small side and might be a bit of a restriction. The current one is an Apexi universal with 3" inlet.
To begin with I ordered this filter, and it was a little too wide at the largest point, as you can see, the size difference is pretty massive. It nearly fitted.

In the end I settled for the Green b7.65 as the best compromise;
This is listed by them in some places as being sufficient for 565 BHP. It's quite long at 250mm, but inportantly it's not too wide (140mm). As a result it fits on the other side of my heat shield without cutting the wing out.
I didnt take a photo of it alongside the Apexi before fitting, but it is a lot bigger, and surely must have better flow potential.
I also extended my heat shield along and around using aluminum heat shield. I cut out an aperture for the Turbo to MAF hose and top of wastegate to N75 hose.

I also added a 3" cold air feed, which I am taking from the front grille.

Then fitted up the filter and hoses;

The heat shield seems to seal the filter off quite well, and the cold air feed it pointed almost straight onto the filter.
Took the car out, and it was running very well, as strong as ever. Not sure if it's made that much difference, but it can't have done any harm!
It was nice to drive the car for the first time in 3 months after my knee operation, the clutch is pretty heavy when manuvering.
I've spent quite a lot of time on my trackday clio lately, so it was nice to give the car some love and take it out of for the first time since before christmas.
Next thing is to sort the damm brake feel to give me more confidence, and most likely convert the strutts to coilovers, although all these threads about bigger turbo's are distracting!
I think we'll go for something of similar size but as I have no inter/chargecooler down below there's plenty of room just behind the front spoiler so no heat shield required.Leave a comment:

Intercooler sizes for those that have asked (twin intercooler setup);
Length :195mm
Core Width :230mm
Width inc end tanks: 350mm
Core Thickness is 100mm
The core sizes are the same on ecah size, but the end tanks obviously vary from left to right.Leave a comment:

My trackday car is emptying my pockets at the moment and taking up all my time. May have to look closer at this when I have a chance!!!
Oh and a coilover conversion, and and and.... I've got this far so why stop now!

It was the best non-engine related mod I've ever done to the car.. Well worth it.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the run down thats very useful. I would want to keep ABS but you say it can accomodate this, a fair bit of work but seems doable, I here changing the master cylinder is hell of a job though. A project for the autumn I think other wise it wont hit the road this year. I'll stop hijacking your thread now Angus.Leave a comment:
