Very true. just have to dig around a bit for 10 valve part's but there's plenty out there. Im away to rebuild my 10 valve....

also 10 valver's aint slow with a few choice mods ( Efi , cylinder head opend up Etc) aslong as the engine's running at its maximum potential beforehand.

Been a while since I updated this, but I just havent had the time do do anything with work ,

I havent really done anything to it since the last update,
but I have purchased myself a nice ABY S2 engine!
Its a bit rusty but it had been sitting in a barn for a few months!

        ,

I also got myself a gt shell for any bits I might need for welding up my quattro, like around the windscreen etc!

I started takeing the dash out, not to much trouble, although putting it all back in will be a nightmare, remembering where all the screws and stuff goes

after getting the dash out i was greeted with this....

thats really as far as ive got so far!.. but theres loads to do yet!

          Rs

Fair play to your tenacity. ABY 20vt is the way to go, as the end result will be more satisfying, a suitable exhaust wil allow the 20v to be heard a bit more.

Forget other brands and stick with the ur. Should keep you busy for a while, but the shed and your age and the ability to do metal work is on your side.

What happened to the Evo 3 ?

Thanks for sharing, shows me there are others as affected as myself.

8 posts in 5 years is impressive lurking.

          Kind regards.

yeah i'm thinking the 20v will be a good change for it, along with a general freshening up body wise!, I cant wait till get my first drive in years in it!

getting everything to fit I dont think will be to hard, maybe im wrong? but getting the wireing done and done well is my main concern! if I had that sorted for when the engines fitted id be happy!
ive been on to tonks on here a few months ago about getting it done and ive read that he's really really good at it, but trailering a car over and trailering it back and from what I remember when I checked it out hes a good journey from any of the docks the boats goes into!

I sold the evo 3, I liked them for ages and when I got round to buying one and driveing itc... I dunno...I just never really gelled with it I guess, I think in the last 4 or 5 months before I sold it, it done like 40 or 50 miles and that was includeing to get it nct'd

yeah im more of a lurker dont really have anything interesting to add most of the time lol, I love reading through these sites id spend hours going through this and a few ford sites and such!

IMHO, and being 'mid-second-engine-swap/rebuild-in-four-months'... Unless you are superbly competent/confident... I'd let Brian at Tonks 4x4 or John at JMR (or similar) look at it. There are so many minor stumbling blocks it needs only one thing: 'experience of swapping'...

You made up for lost time with this thread, I don't have anything interesting to say, but doesn't stop me. lol.

Perhaps Tonks 4x4 might like to come over to you, if you had everything prepped in advance for him. Just an idea that might be viable. Might work out handier than bring the car over and back. You need to locate a sandblaster/power coater for sure.

Looking for a glass media or water/soda blaster in Dublin area for cleaning refurbishing alloy components ?

A tidy / tidied up engine loom laid out on the floor may not be as daunting as you think ?

You might be able to prevail on S2Central for advice assistance,

You could do an awful lot worse. He has been very helpful to me a number of times over the years. Top bloke.

                  Kind regards.

Oooo a jolly over the puddle! Lol

A weekend could be arranged I guess if you wanted me to do it. There is loads that can be done before it comes to wiring side. Is it digi dash or analogue?

Its a digital dash, I remember you saying theres problems with digital dashes and there being no distributor on the ABY?

I think theres someone local, well within an hour anyways that does powder coating, so I guess I have no excuse to get it done!

I cant think of any that does the soda blasting, even up here (Im in Donegal) but if I hear of any ill let you know!
