My 3B to RS2 project
It's a little sport cat that was in the exhaust I bought from Keith, used to be on Stevieyid's car, I've never really thought about it to be fair but it's probably not up to 400 odd BHP.
I'm going to change the rest of the connectors tomorrow and look at re-sleeving the wires too

Injector connectors not in the best condition then! I think I might change mine pre emptively
What cat is that?Leave a comment:

This car has been doing my head in for the last week or so. It's been knocking like a bustard but inconsistant and sometimes really misfiring badly.
I really suspected something to do with the 5 coil conversion as that has been the main change recently, either that or a dodgy injector. I've also had the exhaust off to check for blockages and changed the plugs and was about to change the coilpacks and injectors when I happened to find this..
Injector 1 and 4 connector pin housings

I think this thing might have to go too as Dmitri says it's too small..

Plugs were checked, I swapped these out for the Bosches, no change..

Cone sounds like a massive boost leak, I even tested it to be sure it wasn't.
Surging I think is a sort of a chuffling sound along with a feeling of holding back slightly, back off and it goes cleanly, you can also hear the N75 really loud, really fast tf tf tf tf tf noise once it gets properly on boost. The dump valve is cool but just way too un-stealthy, feels like everone's looking at you just driving down the road, has to end badly
a switch mounted in the cabin would be cool

What kind of noise is it? I have never had a cone on an S2.
Did the blow off valve get annoying?Leave a comment:

More tidying and a try of a cone filter, sheesh it's loud!
I know I'm goiing to get heat soak pretty quick but I wanted to hear the turbo to see if I could hear it surging and I think I can if I go over about 1 Bar before 3000 RPM or so.
I took the dump valve off and fitted a new 710P

No more wiggling of the MAF connector! (where's the dancing smilie when you need him..)Leave a comment:

I have tried diverter valves both ways around, doesnt seem to make a difference.
I thought the Kayser ones were lower quality replacements as Bosch sold the design on?
Oh, fancy! Sounds good, one less sensor to **** itself

Yes, Kayser DV, I think I fitted it backwards though
which is weird cos I know which way round they're suposed to go
Maybe I decided to try it backwards and forgot
I'm running speed density now so no Maf

Nice to get a simple fix. Annoying as you often assume recently fitted new parts are good and dont think to check them.
Was it a new Kayser one?Leave a comment:

Was doing some tidying under the bonnet today, getting ready to do some logs. Had a random thought to pull the DV vac hose off the IM and have a suck on it, no vacuum! This is a genuine 710N from the dealer, only a few months old. No wonder the car wasn't feeling right. Didn't have another diverter so thought I'd try the Bailey dump valve I'd bought for the UR, plugged the MAF hose and plumbed it in. Car is now proper quick again and still some fine tuning to do.

Got in the car today and the trip computer screen has done that weird delaminating thing, it's leaking down from the top
