Got to come over again now John and take me out. I bet it really shifts now. What sort of power is it estimated at now? -
Spent today at MRC and the car is now mapped!
I asked Doug if it was fast enough now to wear a sticker and he said yes!

I don't think any of us suspected I might have a smaller than stock wastegate though eh?Leave a comment:

New 34mm wastegate now fitted, old one was 30mm and very restricted opening. details and pics in this thread Here
Centre box also fitted, it still drones a bit even with the dB Killer, without the dBK its too loud still. Basically I'll be able to live with it but wish I could lose the dBK..
With dBK it now boosts 1 Bar rising slowly at top end to 1.3 Bar ish. Without the dBK it boost 1.5 Bar rising a little at top end to maybe 1.7 Bar.
Hopefully its now mappable!Leave a comment:

Cheers Gary, not sure of the change over or if this car has had a WG fitted from a 10vt at some point in its life
Very relieved to find the cause of the problem. Mid box should be in by tomorrow too.

Guest repliedThats interesting then mate, wonder why the earlier 3B's had a smaller one
Something to bear in mind, wonder when the change over for larger omes is...
Good to see making progress as well

Bit of a breakthrough in the wastegate dept. It turns out that my WG not only has a smaller valve (early 3B WG?) but is not correctly machined, so the valve cannot open fully, you can see this in comparison with the replacement, its 1/4 inch shorter in movement.Last edited by newsh; 18 December 2008, 21:23.Leave a comment:
