Lets not start this off as an arguement.
If this guy wants to do it then fair play i'd rather someone do something interesting than the usual

No wonder people don't post up projects...
It maybe pointless to you dest, but it's someone else's ambition/dream.
In the nicest possible way please keep your "pointless" comments to yourself...
We asked for help and info not whether it's worth doing.. Matt's already made that decision for himself...
Lets get back on track please...Comment

To keep this on track:
Ken - what is the base model? a quattro what? I presume a v6 if its an avant.
You can use the original wiring for everything apart from the engine, that will need to be from either a aby/ady preferably in LHD otherwise from what i've read you will need to extend it slightly.
Engine mounts will need changing if its a v6, if you want a pair of 5 speed mounts I think I still have a pair cut out a car ready from when I was going to do a s2 saloon rep.
You will need a LHD interior as the doorcards on the front are different for the handles and if you use the RHD one you will have a hole on the wrong side for the wiring.
Check whatever interior you get is for the dash you've got, some rs2's have airbags so the dash is different and the door cards iirc.
Climate can be sourced from a A4 and retrofitted as its cheaper/easier to source the parts.
There are two types of rs2 aux dials - the plugs on the back vary and you want RHD one's as it makes for easier installation as LHD have one plug unlike the RHD which is same as an s2 and plug and play.Comment

Of course it's pointless. That's part of the fun
The world would be boring if everybody did the same thing
To show my track record of the sort of standard I work to (and to prove I'm not an idiot - it is what I do for a living
), this is a 16 valve KR Mk1 Golf built for a guy in Scotland:

and this is my current daily, a Belgian spec Digifiz dashboard 16 valve GTI, ex-UN staff no less. I did a complete mechanical overhaul on this as it has to go to Le Mans and back from Sheffield several times a year as my partner lives there.

And for a bit of Audi content, here's my concours 100CD

I tend to only do OEM nowadays - as I've got older my tastes have got more and more conservative! But what better to do to unwind after a day fixing people's cars then build your own? You know what's gone into it then. I do a lot of miles every year in 15-20 year old cars and I find the only way to be sure you're not going to end up by the side of the autoroute is build them yourself from the ground up
I've wanted to build an RS2 ever since reading the RS80 website as a nipper in short trousers back in about 1999-2000ish I'd guess.Last edited by autohausdolby; 22 May 2010, 20:14.Comment

I dont have all the specs on the base car I know it's a quattro 5 cly and has all the proper s2 rads in place, Matt looked at a V6 and the rads are all different, so he ruled it out.Comment

I admire your courage, but I really can't see the point in this as
a, it'll cost you a small fortune to get all of the RIGHT parts
b, you'll probably spend hundreds of hours doing this
c, your time and money would be much better spent on renovating an old dog of an RS2, assuming you can find one, or maybe start off with an S2 Avant
d, chances are you'll never recoup your money when you come to sell it
Good luck thoughS2 Avant......fully loaded   Slipper Wagons Rule !!!!!Comment
