        Hey Ciaran,

I'm pleased you've still got the old bird running.

I've got a B5 S4 now which gobbles up as much money as the S2 does no doubt. But I reckon the S2 at 200K miles feels like my S4 at 100K miles. Either its had a much harder life or the S2 running gear was a much better spec OEM. That said I do need it upgraded.

I should pop in next time I head to Cairngorm or Glencoe for some boarding and catch up!

Is the leak the passenger side footwell? I think I may have one of those on my S4....I think its the trim just above the pollen filter...

Aye, it's all mobile and running now, so keep an eye out!

Let me know if you are ever up this way, more than welcome to pop in and have a look at the old girl. How is the S4 getting on?

Right, so this week I have insured and taxed the car!

Went for it's first run since last June, all seemed to be OK. Had the coolant light coming on when the fan started, but this was just down to the level being low in the header tank. Also, there was a scraping noise coming front the front, as if a brake was dragging (David will remember this...). Took the nearside front wheel off to investigate - it was nothing more than the anti rattle shim on the calliper touching the edge of the disc. Easy fix was to throw it away, they have been removed from both my front callipers now, and I can just replace them when I do my pads next.

As some will know, there is a show on at Crieff tomorrow, so I thought for once I'd better clean the car as I seem to have a habit of not bothering to and getting the piss taken out of me.

It was in a pretty sorry state to begin with, as it has sat outside for the last 8 months or so, never being cleaned

Inside was no better, as it has been used to store parts and after we (mostly) finished putting the new headlining we went straight to the pub and left the car slightly disassembled

So, I started on putting all of the trim back together in the boot. Much better:

Then started putting back together all of the interior and cleaning it up a wee bit, feeding the leather at the same time:

Then onto the wheels, which were looking a little sorry for themselves. The lips are bare metal polished, so leaving them sat out all winter, probably wasn't for the best:

There is no easy was of doing these, so it was out with the Autosol and the Hochglanzverdichten TP245. I also fitted the centre caps for the first time, as the holes for the bolts that hold them on required dressing up with an M6 tap:

It's difficult to show how good a job Darren did on the wheels, so here's me attempting to show the reflection with my muckle great scabby finger:

Also, it's not really that easy to see, but if you look at the split rim bolts, they all have 'O.Z.' engraved on them, when he was building them up, Darren polished each of these bolts and lined up the writing to the same position

Then it was on to the body, which wasn't looking very pretty:

          Bucket + Sponge =

and the usual badge of honour:

So now it's all ready to go to the show tomorrow Please rain, stay away tonight and tomorrow!

Any feedback, particularly as you had to go back to standard for a while.

            Thanks either way.

At the moment it's still on standard rear dampers, only just taxed it a couple of days ago. The front end feels a lot sharper though and stiff. The roads around here are terrible, so I've mainly been avoiding potholes whilst taking it for a little run. Tomorrow I'll be taking it out to the country, so I'll let you know more then and once I fit the rear dampers, which should be either this week or next.

              Thanks

Next week will be the trial building of the new tent, and to see if it fits in the boot The disc is actually very nicely machined now, you could just about shave with it.

No worries, no pressure, just curious.

                        Thanks.

Thanks, they are a pain in the **** to keep nice, but it's worth it. Haven't seen many sets of them about either.

Yeah, the one time I did clean it before a show, I was asked by someone who shall remain nameless 'Bloody hell, thought for a minute you'd got it painted...'. Daily driver at the time though.

I spent about an hour on each wheel, they were pretty clean, the Alusol is fine for getting the worst of the corrosion off, then finish them with Hochglanzverdichten TP245 which pretty much needs to be done every time you drive it, as they are still bare alloy.
