Wheel refurb, how hard can it really be??
I was quoted £100 per wheel, sod that
Went out and got a load of paint stripper, sheets of wet and dry, metal filler, primer, spary paint, lacquer etc etc.
Got enough supplies to do at least 3 sets (if not more) came in at under £100
Need to do a set of 16" Avus and 17" Boleroles and maybe the 19"s I've got (don't look that bad)
I'll give it a go....(cue lots of swearing, beer drinking and tool throwing)
Pics to follow

1995 AAN powered 80 quattro (MTM Stage 2, MTM hybrid turbo, MTM ecu, Forge DV, 034 Highoutput Coil Pack Conversion, Wagner Tuning EM, 3" turbo back SS exhaust system, race cat + other bits and pieces)
We picked up the 80q V6 and started stripping on 2nd Feb. 2011.
The engine was in place on the 23rd Feb.
Engine was first started on the 15th March but still alot to do.
There was four of us working on it but I had to go back home to Sweden after 4 weeks and leave the rest of them to it (that's another story it itself, going over to England in the S6, getting the 80q then the conversion, going home and going back again and getting the car back, surprised I'm still married. Said to the wife I was selling the S6 in England.....)
Talk about walking the line
Then I went back again to England on the 26th April, first maiden voyage was to Standford Hall car show Bank Holiday weekend in May on the Nogsport Club display. Finally got back home to Sweden about the 6th May.
Surprised my kids still recognized me

Takes loads of time.....
Stripped off and rubbed down with some wet and dry, then 2 coats of primer.
Looking good so far (famous last words)
This is the end product after 2 layers of primer (½hour between coats), 3 layers of sliver paint (again at least ½ hour between coats) and 3 layers of lacquer

Next step was to fit S2 clocks, easier said than done.....
Different connections at the back meant that I had to strip down the clocks and replace the dials.
All was going well until I put the rev counter back together, pressed down slightly too hard on the needle and broke the springs etc.....after taking apart five dashboards I found the same rev counter mechanism, it was the only one left. Gentle, gentle.
Then the heatshield needed to get sorted

Ta very much
One of the ideas from the outset was to try to keep it all looking as OEM as possible.
I know the coil packs aren't but I wasn't going to ditch them. With regards to the air filter that's all we had at the time and I had yet to fit an intercooler (time was against us).
When the intercooler did get fitted by some grease monkeys over here I was not happy with the results (I will be changing it).
Apparently 'fit the intercooler underneath the main front strut bar behind the bumper' didn't mean mount it on top and chop off half the splash panel and lose the bonnet handle in the process...:corey: which meant I had to fit bonnet pins for the Swedish MOT (another saga in itself)

Once I got home wasted no time in cracking on.
Rear lights back to OEM ones
Sorted out the pedals
New boot liner
Tidied up the area around the battery
New car mats

Put in the stereo I had in the S6
Wired in the iPod adapter, installed the amp/sub, put back the glove box and the tray underneath the steering wheel.
Wired in the cables for VagCom
Fitted the right hand traffic headlights.
Sorted out the fog light at the back, as it lights on the right side not the left (another fecking stupid Swedish MOT requirement/law).
One fog light only, then it has to be on the left hand side but your allowed two fog lights at the back so I just took off the blank on the left and trailed two wires across and connected it up.
Had the tracking done at my local Audi garage, miles better now.
Great fun just got better

September 2011, finally got the intercooler sorted
Limited for choice over here so a 'Forge' one it was, good for 450bhp.
I know, it wasn't mounted where I wanted it... Hindsight now, I should've done it myself.
However once the new S2 front bumper goes on it will be moved lower
