My BNS is laying beneath my CQ patiently waiting until I get the finger out/prioritise, so while I've the PS units and aircon off the engine - Ive not thought about blanking plates yet. I'm leaning towards trying to keep the weight of the alternator to the rear by using the aircon driveshaft. Every little helps.
I need to get a move on...
Yours is looking good though, nice project.1997 A6 (C4)Q TDi http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=291269 - Sold

That'll be because you've increased the rear spring stiffness by approx. 1/3! (IIRC think there are about 7 coils in some stock rear springs).Coil overs would be the ideal route but for a cheap option for the time being I have cut down a set of S2 springs, I have removed 2 1/2 coils from the springs and have fixed them in position using some heavy duty jubilee clips, overall it has lowered the rear by 4". I now have a clearance of 1" between tyre and the steel arch,
I went out for a spin this evening with SteveT63 for a test run. I was pleasantly surprised that a. It is a very comfy ride. b. It corners like it's on rails and turns in like a go cart.
Looking good there Mr. T, can't wait to see that big engine in the front...

Right don't take the mickey you lot!
If have borrowed a TIG to have a go.
The picture I am about to show you has no use what so ever and is just a lump of practice material
A have no instructions for the unit and I have never picked up a TIG torch in my life, I have used various thicknesses of Ali. I found it much harder to fill any holes like you can with a mig.
I have got a good book to read tonight and I have watched a few YouTube clips for tips....
I guess it's just practice time now

Have you got a foot pedal? Takes a few go's to get a continuous feed with the filler rod, moving the torch, adapting the torch angle, using the foot pedal! remember to start sitting down and rest your torch arm on something.
For your first go you have a nice few runs on there that look good.Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!
