She passed the MOT with one advisory on the lower ball joint. As I will likely need to get the wheel alignment done after changing it I thought I may change both of the lower ball joints on the front. Before I purchase some are there particular brands that someone could recommend and/or a source for them?

If not i'll check the usual suspects:
    • TPS
    • GSF
    • ECP

Ive goto have the rear brakes off again though as there is very slight contact you can hear and a high pitch noise so must be catching a bit. But as I didnt have an MOT I couldnt do a road test until I get her taxed so thats on the list of jobs. Doubt i'll get much done for the next 2 weeks as ive got two stag parties over the next 2 weeks

After a rather frustrating week trying to get stuff one on the old girl ive had a bit of a break through today in preparation for MOT tomorrow.
    • Got the front window mechanisms lubricated properly and door cards back on.
    • Tidied up on the doors where they had been rubbed by the door cards
    • Glued up the door handle grabs on the interior where the internal foam had started to lift from the outer handles
    • Fitted Andy's K24R 314mm kit after fettling the carriers somewhat
    • Gave her a wash and touched up a couple of bits of laquer that had started to peel to hopefully stop it going any further
    • Fitted the MOMO steering wheel I bought from Andy ages ago, the horn contact on the boss I bought was great so i spent a good hour and half sorting that out
    • Gave the door cards a clean with some interior shampoo
    • Checked her over ready for MOT
    • Tested brakes and no warning lights so fingers crossed the swapping back and forth of parts has sorted that.

I gave the flanges a good clean as they had some paint on them which helped a little, ran out of time last night and put the one side back together with the stock disc, getting in there for a good clean on the other areas is next. I may have another set of carriers in the shed which I can try too, Claire has been quite tolerant of my tinkering this week as I've been out there till gone 9pm most evenings

Got the bomb swapped back over tonight and the passenger window working again after lubing runners and give motor a tap. Will need to have off yet to decrease but it can wait until I adjust doors.

As for brakes I haven't had a chance to re test properly yet. Instead I investigated squeak from rear brakes. Unfortunately with the carriers from rusty and Delphi discs the discs foul the carriers as discs are 11mm and originals were 9.81 mm when I checked tonight. So taking them off until I work a solution

I think your right, i suspect my original one had a dodgy return valve, but was ok otherwise so im going to refit that in the interim and decide what to do next.

Will the warning light be an MOT failure?

That one looks like the one Alex sent me which didn't fit the Avant. Assuming the ABY Coupe and Avant are the same it won't work

After putting the nipple back on I realised I hadnt ran the car for a couple of mins beforehand. So back through the same process again after running the engine, a very small amount of fluid, then refitted it all back together.

I was scratching my head a bit and the only item that has changed is the bomb, so I ran the car for a few minutes and did the bomb test. Pressing the brake pedal had a decent feel for a single press while the engine was running, but would get warning light if you did 2 or 3 presses in a row.

Anyway engine off and the pedal goes hard after 3 presses so my plan of action now is to refit my original bomb, which has the problem with draining alot of PAS fluid on startup and then refilling back into reservoir and will go from there.

Been out again this evening and disconnected the return feed and had no drops come out all from the brake booster servo.

Yeah it's looking like that, I like to change one part at a time to try and find the fault. I changed bomb first which solved the PAS fluid draining from the reservoir so much on startup, but then the brake servo issues occurred. Could this be caused by the bomb I fitted is it compounding the problem with servo. Tempted to refit my old bomb and see if I still have problems with servo. I'll do the return like check first. Can anyone confirm if the top line is the return? And if the servo mark pictured above is compatible?

I think you may have the same symptoms as mine recently, servo has failed.

Having just read the thread about RS2 brake problems it looks like the top connection is the return line.

I'll see about checking the servo out tomorrow evening. Cross referencing the part numbers is a PITA. after checking it tomorrow it should better inform if it is the bomb, booster or both that are the problem.

Going to start pricing up the vacuum option to see what it would cost
